Blooming Embroidered Cupcakes

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Favorite cake mix or recipe (4 1/2 cups batter needed)
  • Creamy White Decorator Icing - 4lb tub (5 1/2 cups icing needed)
  • Delphinium Blue Icing Color
  • Creamy Peach Icing Color
  • Ivory Icing Color
  • Violet Icing Color*
  • Rose Icing Color*
  • Royal Blue Icing Color*
  • White Sugar Pearls
  • Standard 12 cup muffin pan
  • Standard white baking cups
  • Cooling grid
  • 9" tapered spatula
  • Disposable decorating bags
  • Round decorating tip #1
  • Blossom Fondant Double Cut-Outs Set (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Bake cupcakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white baking cups. Tint icing. Using icing colors, tint 1 cup icing each Delphinium Blue, Creamy Peach and Ivory. Tint 1 cup icing each medium lilac and light blue using color combinations provided. Reserve remaining icing white. Ice cupcakes. Using spatula and Delphinium Blue, Creamy Peach, Ivory, medium lilac and light blue icings, ice cupcakes smooth. Decorate cupcakes. Prepare decorating bag with tip #1 and white icing. Lightly outline desired shapes (optional: use blossom cut-outs to make imprint in icing). Starting at outline and working towards center, pipe thin tight lines to fill. Once filled, over-pipe outline using heavier pressure.
  2. Using bead technique, pipe flower stems. Repeat thin line piping technique used to make flowers to make leaves.
  3. Pipe accent dots as desired. Pipe center dots or add sugar pearls.

JOANN Hacks:

  • Combine Violet and touch of Rose icing colors to get medium lilac color shown. Combine Royal Blue and touch of Violet icing colors to get light blue color shown.
