SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sewing Machine
  • Iron
  • Sewing notions
  • 3/4" wide Velcro, 1 yd
  • High Density Foam Cushions, 2"x16", 2 pack
  • Outdoor Decor Fabric, 1/2 yd
  • Chopstick or small dowel

DIRECTIONS:

  1. For any size cushion: Measure size of cushion form length, width and depth. Top and bottom panels; length plus 1", width plus 1". Three side panels: length plus 1", depth plus 1". One side panel (made up of two panels attached by Velcro) half of depth plus width of Velcro, plus 1/2" for seam allowance, length plus 1".
  2. For each 2" x 16" seat cushion cut fabric:
  3. 2 @ 17" x 17" (top and bottom)
  4. 3 @ 3" x 17" (3 sides)
  5. 2 @ 2-1/4" x 17" (side with Velcro)
  6. Velcro: 1 @ 16"
  7. Use 1/2" seam allowance.
  8. On RS of length of Velcro panels, mark 1/2" from ends. Pin and sew Velcro between marks lining up Velcro with raw edge of fabric. Fold panel with fuzzy Velcro so section with Velcro lays on the back of the panel. Sew close to the edge to secure in place. Line up the ends of the two panels and press the Velcro together to join.
  9. Pin two opposite side panels to top panel RST lining up corners and raw edges. Mark 1/2" from corners. Sew beginning and ending at the 1/2" mark. Repeat for other two side panels. Fold back first sides to keep from getting caught in stitching. Repeat to attach the bottom panel to the sides.
  10. Line up the short ends of the side panels. Pull out the top and bottom panel fabric at and angle to prevent catching in stitching. Sew together starting and ending 1/2" from edges.
  11. Trim corners. Turn RSO. Use a chopstick or small dowel to press out corners. Fill with cushion form.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for beginners!!! I am by no means a beginner, and I could not follow the sewing directions at all. Pictures are essential to make them understandable. I made the back of the cushion with two overlapping sections and Velcro instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So easy to use! I received my machine 12 days ago an have made 25 masks plus some mending....I am very satisfied with it except for one thing...the bobbin...its hard to remove if your finger nails are not long. I also had trouble getting used to the reverse being on the front but after using it, now I'm getting used to it....that is it....it's a bit different.. but viva la defierence!!
