DIRECTIONS:

  1. To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  2. Cut out felt pieces keeping the groups of parts in separate piles. Groupings are indicated by a horizontal line on the templates. The serrated edges of the pattern pieces should be cut using pinking shears. Use the image provided as a guide to layer the parts, leaving the back circles separate. Apply E6000 under each of the parts to secure together. Let dry.
  3. Use permanent marker to draw the lines for the mouths. Sew along the lines using embroidery floss. Keep the knots on the back, these will be covered with the back circle.
  4. Gently finger flatten the top 3/4" - 1" of eight treat sticks. Lay the flattened end of the sticks on the backs of the circle faces. Turn each face to decide the proper tilt of the face on the stick. Holding the stick in place, mark the location of the end and the sides of the stick on the back of the face. Remove the sticks and add hot glue to the area inside the marks. Press the sticks in place. Let set for a few minutes.
  5. Work one face at a time. Add hot glue on the sides and the top of the flattened sticks then add a spiral of hot glue to the back of the back circles. Press the back circles over the sticks. This will also cover the embroidery floss.
  6. Cut the lower tips of the treat sticks at an angle so they will slide easily into a cake top.
