SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

    For two pillows:
  • 1/2 yd each of two coordinating Home Dec fabric prints
  • One package maxi piping
  • Two 16"x 16" pillow forms
  • Rotary cutter, ruler & mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & ironing surface

DIRECTIONS:

Note: Use 1/2" seam allowance throughout.
  1. The pillows are designed to highlight the print in the fabric. A strip of one fabric is placed in the middle of the other fabric for each pillow. Look at the print of each to determine what part of the design you would like to highlight then cut out the fabric for the pillow tops. In the design pictured, the middle section was cut 5"x 17" and the sides were cut 7"x 17".
  2. Cut the backing for the pillow envelope closure, two 11"x 17" pieces for each pillow.
  3. Sew the piping to the long sides of both 5"x 17" pieces. Sew the 7"x 17" side pieces to center pieces. Press the seam allowances toward the center.
  4. To make the envelope backing, make a 1" hem along one 17" side of each backing piece.
  5. Place the pillow top face up on the work surface and the two backing pieces face down with the hemmed edges overlapping and the raw edges lined up with the raw edges of the pillow top.
  6. Sew all around, clip the corners and turn the pillow inside out. Press.
  7. Place a pillow form in each pillow cover.
