Popsicle Stick Frames

Sunshine Button Frame

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 12 popsicle sticks
• Orange paint
• Various buttons (orange, pink, yellows)
• Pink, red & orange embroidery floss
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun/glue sticks
• Medium flat paintbrush

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lay four popsicle sticks into a square, place a dab of glue in each corner to secure. Repeat so you have three squares.
2. Lay each frame down slightly, turning each one so that they make a sun shape (use inspiration photo as a guide). Glue in place.
3. Paint the popsicle stick starburst frame orange.
4. Once the paint is dry, glue buttons around the frame.
5. Cut three pieces of red, pink and orange floss 24" long. Knot at the end and braid them together so each color is a strand of the braid. Thread the braided strand through one of the wholes on the top of the frame and knot to secure. This will be for hanging the frame later.
6. Print a photo sized slightly larger than your frame opening and secure in place with glue to the back of the frame.

• Use a hair dryer to melt away the small hairs or webbing caused by hot glue guns (make sure your hot glued items are cooled and secured before using the blow drier so you don't blow away any elements you glued in place).

Scallop Edge Frame

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 16 popsicle sticks
• Black paint
• Letter beads
• X-acto® knife
• Hot glue gun/glue sticks
• Medium flat paintbrush

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lay four popsicles into a square, place a dab of glue in each corner to secure.
2. Using an X-acto knife, cut 1" off each end of the popsicle stick. Repeat on both sides until you have 24 ends.
3. Glue the ends on the back side of the frame along each end and at the corner to create a scalloped look.
4. Paint the entire frame with black paint.
5. Once the paint is dry, glue on the works “I LOVE YOU MORE" with letter beads and attach heart beads to each corner.
6. Cut nine pieces of white floss 12" long. Knot at the end and braid together using 3 strands for each strand of the braid. Knot the other end when finished braiding. Secure each end on the back of the frame at the top with hot glue. If you need to make the braid shorter, knot and cut off any excess. This will be for hanging the frame later.
7. Print a photo sized slightly larger than your frame opening and secure in place with glue to the back of the frame.

Clip Board Frame

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 8 popsicle sticks
• White paint
• Embroidery floss (colors of choice)
• 4 small dot magnets
• Hot glue gun/glue sticks
• Medium flat paintbrush

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lay four popsicles into a square, place a dab of glue in each corner to secure.
2. Glue a second row of popsicle sticks inside to create a thicker frame that is two popsicle sticks wide.
3. Paint the popsicle stick frame white.
4. On the back, place a dab of glue and place the end of your floss into the glue dab to secure the end in place. Once the glue is cool, wrap the floss or string around the frame, moving along to cover all four sides. At the end, secure with hot glue and cut off any excess. Repeat with each desired color.
5. Flip the frame over and glue magnet dots in each corner of the frame to hang the frame from a magnetic surface.
6. Print a photo sized slightly larger than your frame opening and secure in place with glue to the back of the frame.

• Once you finish wrapping all the floss/string around the frame, run a line of hot glue on the back along the outside and inside edge of the frame. This will secure the string in place and keep the floss/string from shifting.

Pom Pom Trim Popsicle Frame

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 9 popsicle sticks
• Pom pom trim
• 10mm white pom poms (approx. 50)
• Paint (color to match the pom pom trim)
• Scissors
• Hot glue gun/glue sticks
• Medium flat paintbrush

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lay four popsicles into a square, place a dab of glue in each corner to secure. Repeat so you have two squares.
2. Lay one square onto your work surface. Hold the second square at a 45 degree angle from the one flat on your work surface. Line the top edges of the squares up. Run a generous line of glue on the inside edge where the two popsicle stick squares meet. (This will attach the frame square to the stand square.) While the glue is still hot, and holding the stand square still at a 45 degree angle stick another popsicle stick in to middle as reinforcement. Pushing it down against the frame flat on the work surface. This will act as a ledge for the stand square to rest on and reinforce the glued corner. You will need to hold the stand square at a 45 degree angle until the glue is cooled and hard.
3. Paint the entire frame and stand with acrylic paint that matches the trim color of your pom trim.
4. Once the paint if dry glue the trim around the inside edge of the frame square so that the pom poms face out to the outer edge.
5. Glue white pom poms along the inner edge of the frame square on top of the trim.
6. Print a photo sized slightly larger than your frame and secure in place with glue to the back of the frame.
