SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Roll out the desired amount of paper onto a large flat surface.
  2. Tape the paper to the surface.
  3. Using the ruler, draw a faint pencil line 7 1/2” down from the edge of the paper.  The line will be erased later.
  4. On the line locate points every 4”.  Indicate by a dash on the horizontal line.  This is the width of the wood on the back of the stamp.
  5. Lay a line of gold paint on the plate.
  6. Roll the brayer into the paint to equally distribute the paint onto the brayer.
  7. Using the brayer, appy a thin, even coat of paint to the raised sections of the stamp.
  8. Holding the stamp on the curved sides of the wood backing carefully line up the top edge of the wood with the pencil line.
  9. Press down firmly without rocking.
  10. Continue applying the stamp down the length of the paper using the pencil line as the guide for the top edge of the stamp.
  11. For the most solid application of the stamp paint should be applied between each press.
  12. When desired pattern is complete, allow paint to dry.
  13. Wash the stamp with warm, soapy water.
  14. Erase the pencil line from the paper.
 
Stars Paper

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
Tape
Scotch Dust Cover Paper 75 sq. ft., one roll
Styrofoam plate
Speedball Soft Rubber Brayer 2”, one
Baking potatoes, two
Large kitchen knife
Small sharp kitchen knife
Wilton Cookie Cutter Set-Stars 6 pieces, one set
Plaid Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint 2 fl. oz. White, one
 
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Roll out desired amount of paper onto a large flat surface.
  2. Tape the paper to the surface.
  3. Wash and dry the potatoes.
  4. With a large kitchen knife, cut the potatoes horizontally to expose the largest FLAT surface.
  5. Press one cookie cutter gently into the meat of each of the potatoes.
  6. Flip the potatoes over onto a flat surface and press the cookie cutters completely into the potato meat.
  7. Using the small, sharp knife cut horizontally through the meat of the potatoes up to the imbedded cookie cutter.  Remove the excess meat.
  8. Remove the cookie cutter to expose the raised pattern.
  9. Dry the potato.
  10. Lay a line of white paint onto the plate.
  11. Roll the brayer into the paint to equally distribute the paint onto the brayer.
  12. Using the brayer, apply a thin, even coat of paint to the raised sections of the potato stamp.
  13. Gently set stamp onto paper then apply slow, steady pressure straight down onto the potato.  Potato stamps have additional moisture.  Slow stamping will help to avoid smearing.
  14.  Apply a random pattern of alternating sizes of star stamps to the paper.
  15. For the most solid application of the stamps paint should be applied between each press.
  16. When desired pattern is complete, allow paint to dry.
  17. Wash the potato stamps.
  18. To preserve the stamps for 1/2 days refrigerate in cold water in a sealed container.
 
Trees Paper

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Tape
Scotch Dust Cover Paper 75 sq. ft., one roll
Styrofoam plate
Speedball Soft Rubber Brayer 2”. one
Hero Arts Wood Mounted Rubber Stamp-Striped Tree with Star, one
Plaid Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint 2 fl. oz. Black, one
 
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Roll out desired amount of paper onto a large flat surface.
  2. Tape the paper to the surface.
  3. Along the length of the paper locate points every 4 1/4” and draw a faint horizontal pencil line. This is the height of the wood of the stamp.  The line will be erased later.
  4. On the horizontal line draw a spot every 3 1/4” to indicate the width of the wood of the stamp.  This will create a grid pattern on the paper.
  5. Lay a line of black paint onto the plate.
  6. Roll the brayer into the paint to equally distribute the paint onto the brayer.
  7. Using the brayer, apply a thin, even coat of paint to the raised sections of the stamp.
  8. Holding the stamp on the curved sides of the wood backing carefully line up the wood with the pencil lines.
  9. Press down firmly without rocking.
  10. Continue applying the stamp into alternating spaces in the grid pattern.  Be sure to keep the stamp facing the same direction.
  11. For the most solid application of the stamp paint should be applied between each press.
  12. When desired pattern is complete, allow paint to dry.
  13. Wash stamp with warm, soapy water.
  14. Erase all pencil lines from the paper.
