DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2 skeins cotton yarn
  • Purple fabric dye (or color of choice)
  • 36" of 1/2" dowel rod
  • Fray Check™ or glue
  • Rotary cutter & mat or scissors
  • Wide toothed comb
  • 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" sturdy cardboard

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Wall Art #1
  2. Cut dowel rod into 2 18" pieces.
  3. For under rod, cut cotton yarn into approximately 200 45" pieces.
  4. Tie 3 strands onto rod using a lark’s head knot.
  5. Continue tying on yarn until desired fullness.
  6. For over rod, cut cotton yarn into approximately 100 45" pieces.
  7. Follow manufacturer’s directions and dye yarn to desired color. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  8. Tie 3 strands of dyed yarn onto second rod using a lark’s head knot.
  9. Lay under rod onto flat surface and “comb” yarn straight.
  10. Use rotary cutter or scissors to cut yarn into a “V”.
  11. Repeat with dyed over rod.
  12. Cut a 20" piece of yarn and tie to ends of rod for hanger.
  13. Secure knot with Fray Check™ and clip off loose end.

  4. Follow dye manufacturer’s directions, fold yarn in half and dip into dye part way up to desired color. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  5. Tie 3 strands onto rod using a lark’s head knot.
  6. Continue tying on yarn until desired fullness.
  7. For over rod, make 19 tassels by wrapping yarn around cardboard 20 times. Use a 30" piece of yarn for hanging and secure with wrapping knot.
  8. Trim tassels to 3".
  9. Dip into dye up to wrap to desired color. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  10. Tie tassels onto second rod using a lark’s head knot.
  11. Refer to photo and adjust tassel length and spacing.
  12. Apply a drop of Frey Check or glue on back side of knot and clip off loose end.
  13. Lay under rod onto flat surface and “comb” yarn straight.
  14. Use rotary cutter or scissors to cut yarn straight across.
  15. Cut a 20" piece of yarn and tie to ends of rod for hanger.
  16. Secure knot with Fray Check™ and clip off loose end.

  6. Make 14 tassels by wrapping yarn around cardboard 20 times. Use a 15" piece of yarn for hanging and secure with wrapping knot.
  7. Trim tassels to 3".
  8. Dip into dye up to wrap to desired color. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  9. Tie tassels onto one piece of yarn as shown in photo.
  10. Refer to photo and adjust tassel length and spacing.
  11. Apply a drop of Fray Check™ or glue on back side of knot and clip off loose end.
  12. Use rotary cutter or scissors to cut yarn in an inverted “V”.
  13. Cut a 20" piece of yarn and tie to ends of rod for hanger.
