SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 1/2 yd denim fabric
  • Two 1 1/2" real leather straps
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Leather needle
  • Iron

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut two 21"x 17" rectangles and two 24"x 17" rectangles out of denim fabric (5/8" seam allowance included).
  2. Cut leather straps down to 32". With right sides together, sew one short end of each 21"x 17" rectangles together and repeat with larger rectangles. Press seam allowance to one side and under stitch seam. This will be the bottom of the bag.
  3. With right sides together, sew long sides together on each set of rectangles and press seams open. On larger rectangle, leave small opening on one side seam. This piece will be the lining.
  4. At the bottom of each bag, line bottom and side seam together from the inside and create a point. Sew a straight line 1 1/2" from point and perpendicular to seam to create a fold.
  5. With right sides together, sew open ends of each bag together. Turn bag right side out, and fold excess 2" of lining to the outside of the outer bag, creating a cuff.
  6. Edge stitch the bottom and top of cuff through all layers. Attach leather straps 2" in from the side seams and sew through all layers. Close opening on lining.
