Hydro Dipped Canvas Shoes

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cotton Canvas Shoes: 1 Pair
  • Spray Paint: 3 Cans; Various Colors
  • Painter's Tape
  • Large Plastic Container (at least 5" deep)
  • Disposable Plastic Knife or Spoon
  • Embroidered Stickers
  • Plastic Grocery Bags
  • Scissors
  • Water

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Remove shoestrings from shoes.
  2. Use the painter's tape & cover all the rubber area of the shoe where paint is not desired (including the bottom of the shoe.)
  3. Fill each shoe with recycled plastic grocery bags.
  4. Fill the plastic container with warm water.
  5. Take each color of spray paint & quickly spray a section in the water.
  6. Use the plastic spoon or knife & swirl a pattern.
  7. Take the shoe & dip it into the water slowly & pull it out at the same speed.
  8. Wipe off any excess paint.
  9. Set aside to dry.
  10. Add more spray paint to the water & repeat the process with the other shoe.
  11. Let both shoes dry overnight before removing the masking tape.
  12. Once the shoes are dry, apply additional embellishments such as appliques or heat fix jewels.
