Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.
GAUGE:
24 sts + 32 rows = 4" in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with larger needles.

DIRECTIONS:
Stitch Explanation:M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop 1 st increased.
Pattern Stitches:
K2, p2 Rib (worked over a multiple of 4 sts + 2 extra sts)
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 Rib.
Notes:
Pullover is worked in 4 pieces, Back, Front and 2 Sleeves.
Hood is worked from stitches picked up around neck edge of Pullover.
The Ears are worked separately and sewn to hood. The Ears are optional, Pullover can be made without them.
Back:
With smaller needles, cast on 62 (70, 74, 82, 86) sts.
Work K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 2 (2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 3)" from beg.
Change to larger straight needles and beg with a RS row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures 8 1/2 (9, 9 1/2, 10, 11)" from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Shape Armholes
Next 2 Rows: Continuing in St st as established, bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts, work to end of row.
Next 2 Rows: Bind off 2 sts, work to end of row.
Next Row (RS): K2tog, work to end of row.
Next Row: P2tog, work to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows once more - 48 (54, 58, 64, 68) sts when all decs have been completed.
Continue in St st until armhole measures 4" (4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2, 6)" from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Shape Neck and Shoulders
Next Row (RS): K13 (16, 16, 19, 19) sts, sl next 22 (22, 26, 26, 30) sts to a st holder for back neck; join a second ball of yarn and k last 13 (16, 16, 19, 19) sts. Note: You will now be working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn.
Next 2 Rows: Continuing in St st as established, on first side, work to end of side; on second side, bind off 2 sts, work to end of side.
Next Row (WS): On first side, purl to last 2 sts, p2tog; on second side, p2tog, purl to end of side.
Next Row: On first side, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog; on second side, k2tog, knit to end of side.
Rep last 2 rows once more - 9 (12, 12, 15, 15) sts on each side when all decs have been completed.
Next 6 Rows: Continuing in St st as established, on first side, bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts, work to end of side; on second side, work to end of side.
Front:
Work same as Back until armholes measure 3" (3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2, 5)" from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Shape Neck and Shoulders
Next Row (RS): K 18 (21, 21, 24, 24) sts, (sl next 6 (6, 8, 8, 10) to a holder) twice; join a second ball of yarn and k last 18 (21, 21, 24, 24) sts. Note: You will now be working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn.
Next 2 Rows: Continuing in St st as established, on first side, work to end of side; on second side, bind off 4 sts, work to end of side.
Next 2 Rows: On first side, work to end of side; on second side, bind off 2 sts, work to end of side.
Next Row (WS): On first side, purl to end of side; on second side, p2tog, purl to end of side.
Next Row: On first side, knit to end of side; on second side, k2tog, knit to end of side.
Rep last 2 rows twice more - 9 (12, 12, 15, 15) sts on each side when all decs have been completed.
Continue in St st, working each side with separate balls of yarn until piece measures same as Back to shoulder shaping.
Next 6 Rows: Continuing in St st as established, on first side, bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts, work to end of side; on second side, work to end of side.
Sleeves (make 2):
With smaller needles, cast on 38 (42, 46, 50, 54) sts.
Work K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 2" (2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2, 3)" from beg.
Change to larger straight needles and beg with a WS row, work in St st for 5 (7, 7, 7, 7) rows.
Next Row (RS): K1, M1, k to last st, M1, k1 - 40 (44, 48, 52, 56) sts.
Work in St st as established for 5 (7, 7, 7, 7) rows.
Rep last 6 (8, 8, 8, 8) rows 5 (6, 6, 7, 8) more times - 50 (56, 60, 66, 72) sts when all incs have been completed.
Work even in St st until Sleeve measures 7" (10, 11 1/2, 11 1/2, 12)" from beg, end with a WS row as the last row you work.
Shape Cap (Top of Sleeve)
Next 2 Rows: Bind off 3 (4, 4, 5, 5) sts, work in St st to end of row - 44 (48, 52, 56, 62) sts.
Next Row (RS): K2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Purl 1 row.
Rep last 2 rows 8 (10, 12, 14, 16) more times - 26 (26, 26, 26, 28) sts when all decs have been completed.
Next 4 Rows: Bind off 4 sts, work in St st to end of row.
Bind off rem 10 (10, 10, 10, 12) sts.
Finishing:
Sew shoulders.
Hood
From RS with circular needle, and starting at center front, k across 6 (6, 8, 8, 10) sts of right front holder, pick up and k 21 sts evenly spaced along right neck edge to holder, k across 22 (22, 26, 26, 30) sts on holder for back neck, pick up and k 21 sts evenly spaced along left front neck edge then across 6 (6, 8, 8, 10) sts on left front st holder - 76 (76, 84, 84, 92) sts.
Note: Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
Next Row (WS): K 5 (5, 5, 6, 6), place marker, p to last 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) sts, place marker, k to end of row.
Next Row (RS): Knit.
Rep last 2 rows, keeping first and last 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) sts in Garter st (knit every row), while working rest of hood in St st.
Work even until hood measures 8" (8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2, 10)" from beg, end with WS row.
Shape Top of Head
Next Row (RS): K 38 (38, 42, 42, 46) sts for right side of hood, slip rem 38 (38, 42, 42, 46) sts for left side of hood to st holder.
Next Row (WS): Bind off 3 sts, p to last 5 (5, 5, 6, 6) sts, k to end of row.
Next Row (RS): Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 5 more times - 20 (20, 24, 24, 28) sts.
Bind off.
Slip rem 38 (38, 42, 42, 46) sts of left side to needle ready to work a RS row, join yarn and knit to end of row.
Next Row (WS): K 5 (5, 5, 6, 6), purl to end.
Next Row (RS): Bind off 3 sts, knit to end.
Rep last 2 rows 5 times - 20 (20, 24, 24, 28) sts.
Bind off.
Sew top of hood.
Sew in Sleeves. Sew Sleeve and side seams.
Ears (make 2)
With smaller needles, cast on 20 sts.
Work in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures 1 in. (2.5 cm) from beg.
Next 5 Rows: K2tog, k to last 2 sts, k2tog - 10 sts.
Bind off.
Gather cast on edge of each ear and sew to top of hood.
Weave in ends.
