SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  • Cake Mix - ingredients to bake a 13x9 cake
  • White frosting
  • Candy Melts in assorted colors
  • White Fondant
  • Assorted sprinkles
  • Gel foodcoloring
  • Basic baking supplies

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Bake cake according to package directions. Let cool completely.
  2. Using cookie cutter, cut hearts from a 13x9 baked cake.
  3. Knead and roll out the fondant to about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Place it over a lightly frosted cake.
  5. Frost all the way down the sides, top, etc. to insure fondant will stick and hold to cakes.
  6. Smooth out all sides.
  7. Place a wired rack onto cookie sheet so poured melts can drip below.
  8. Heat melts to a liquid consistency. Add food coloring for desired effect.
  9. Pour different colored melts over cakes to create a marbling effect.
  10. Add sprinkles before melts set up and harden.

  • Try not to mix melts to much so they can create a natural marble effect.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for beginners! Cutting heart shapes out of a 9 x 13 cake is challenging, Directions are not specific about how to use fondant and when to frost these crumbly cakes. Applying frosting, fondant and melts is a lot of work and depending on the size of your heart cutter you may have more outside than cake inside.
