How To Get It
The Skyline S3 includes everything you need to make sewing easier and more enjoyable; it comes with 120 built-in stitches, including 7 one-step buttonholes and 1 alphabet. The stitch quality of the Skyline S3 is excellent and is able to speed up to 820 stitches per minute in a smooth and peaceful operation. Navigation through all of these choices is simple using the backlit LCD screen. 
Janome’s Superior Feed System Plus features a 7-piece feed dog to ensure that even the thickest, multi-layer projects are able to move under the needle with precision and ease. The Skyline S3’s patented needle placement accuracy includes special plate markings that indicate needle drop position, provide angle marks and act as front-of-the-foot guides. In addition, the needle can be moved into 71 unique positions in order to get pinpoint accuracy for decorative stitching, applique and free motion quilting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Machine Still getting used to computerized machine after 47 years of Sears mechanical. So far so good. Like the auto cut, auto stop in down position, auto tack at end of seam but not the auto tack at start of seam. Perhaps I still need to learn how to use it because it bunches the fabric at the start. Variable foot pedal speed is nice. Larger table space is nice. Other reviews mentioned bobbin problems but once I got the threading path correct it was fine. The needle threader is harder to use than just threading the needle yourself. Haven't used the buttonholer or special stitches yet but they seem easy to use. Very happy I made the upgrade!

So I went shopping and found the S3 to satisfy all my needs. It turned out to be more than I expected. It carries on the Janome reputation with a very respectable price. It has all the features I wanted plus many more and it runs so very smoothly.

This was replacing another sewing machine that was from a different company. This is an awesome sewing machine! I am working with a quality sewing machine. I am still learning how to work the threader consistently (correctly). I got this machine on sale, and I jumped when I saw the great price. It is very easy to learn, and work with. I have only had it about two weeks, and I am trying out the different feet and stitches. I consistently get quality stitches. I was not use to a sewing machine having that have the ability to go off like a race car (regarding its speed). I wish it had more decorative stitches, but that is minor compared to all the great features this sewing machine has.

This runs so smoothly. My daughter tried using it and is now going to buy her own. She is a beginner and I am at intermediate skill level.

The machine is heavy but I bought this to use at home so that is a bonus to me, very happy to have more metal than plastic parts. Very easy to use with lots of room to grow and expand. The features are nice but you can still jump right in and do basic sewing without understanding every detail of the machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Janome Skyline S3 I like the machine so far, although sometimes the threader doesn't work the first time (I have to keep trying and then it finally catches the thread and takes it through the needle). Also, sometimes the machine pops and the thread breaks, and I have to rethread both the upper and bobbin thread to start sewing again. This happens even with a brand new needle installed, and good quality thread. I'm still trying to find out what causes that. But as a whole, I Iike the machine so far.

I am so inlove with this Skyline S3 machine. I am fairly new to sewing and this is a dream come true machine. I love the thread cutter, the easy needle threader. I love all of the stitches. Quilting has a whole new meaning for me. Love Love my new Big Girl machine.

I wanted a machine that I could grow into but not so difficult it would be too daunting. Janome comes with an actual hardcopy manual, Not one on a CD or a link to an online manual. This is a machine I can grow with and use for many years to come.
