SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Tulip Tie-Dye Party Kit (powders)
- 100% cotton white t-shirt
- Ice cubes
- Table cover
DIRECTIONS:
- Cover table.
- Fold damp shirt in half lengthwise and press flat on tabletop.
- Pinch shirt where you would like the center of your first spiral to be, then twist fabric a few times to create a small spiral.
- Maintaining first spiral, pinch another section of shirt and twist several times to create a second spiral.
- Crumple the remaining fabric towards the spirals.
- Bind the shirt with rubber bands to hold secure.
- Make a paper ring to fit around bound shirt. This will help keep the ice in place when dyeing.
- Place ice on top of bound shirt.
- Instead of adding water to dye bottles to mix, squeeze dye powder of a few colors on top of ice.
- Let ice melt and remove paper ring.
- Flip shirt over and repeat process on the backside with additional dye powders.
- Once the backside has been dyed, cut off the rubber bands, then launder according to instructions.
JOANN Hacks:
- Use table that you don't mind getting dirty in case dye gets past the table cover & hits table.
