SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 100% cotton fabric
  • 100% cotton coordinating fabric
  • Pattern template (download PDF)
  • Wooden beads with large holes
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
  2. Cut 1 pattern piece, on the fold, out of cotton fabric.
  3. Fold fabric right sides together, matching sides. Sew along top using 1/4" seam allowance and leaving a space 3" wide in the center to turn mask right side out.

  4. To make ties: Cut 2 strips of fabric 1 1/2"x 18". Fold fabric in half lengthwise and press. Open up and bring both edges to the center fold line and press. Fold in half to make ties. Stitch close to edge to finish.

  5. Pin raw ends of ties in each corner 1/2" down from top and up from bottom edge. Make sure that the ties do not twist. Once the ties are pinned, bundle up the loops in the center of the mask, and sew the side seam closed.

  6. Turn mask right side out and press seams flat.
  7. Using pattern as a guide, fold up 3 pleats on each side, making sure the pleats are folded in the same direction. Pin into place.
  8. Top stitch 1/4" around the entire mask, securing the pleats and closing the opening.
  9. Thread each side loop through one bead to adjust side ties.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pleat are not easy Pattern should be made the correct size. Or at least tell us how to make the pattern ie how far apart are the pleat lines?
