SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Chenille Stems (varied sizes)
  • Foam Sheets

  • Memory Wire
  • Yarn or Scrubbie Yarn
  • Large Eye Needle

CHENILLE CANDY CANES
  1. Choose 2 chenille stems.
  2. Starting from bottom, twist stems around each other.
  3. Bend top end over and shape with fingers.
  4. Trim off excess or uneven ends with wire snippers.

CHENILLE STEM SNOWFLAKES
  1. Cut 2 stems in half with wire snippers.
  2. Cross stems in the middle and bend one stem 180 degrees around the other to form a "&" shape.
  3. Repeat with remaining halves, wrapping them around the center of the "&" shape at 45 and -45 degree angles.
  4. Cut 3 stems into quarters.
  5. Wrap 2 pieces around one arm of the snowflake.
  6. Wrap 1 piece around the next arm of the snowflake.
  7. Repeat with remaining pieces.
  8. Apply pom to center of snowflake with hot glue.
  9. Cut a 5" piece of yarn.
  10. Form into loop and tie a knot at one end.
  11. Glue knot to back of snowflake arm to create hanger.

CHENILLE STEM STAR
  1. Choose 2 full size stems.
  2. Hold ends together in a V shape.
  3. Bend one end over the other end and pinch closed.
  4. Bend remaining end of the first stem and pinch closed.
  5. Stems should form a V.
  6. Bend V into a zig zap shape with 5 even points working from the center out.
  7. Bring ends of chenille stems together to form star.
  8. Bend or twist ends together to close star shape.
  9. Hang tassel(s) or poms from center of star.
  10. Use needle to run scrubby yarn through the center of pom(s)/tassel.
  11. Tie knot above pom, then run one end through and over top of star and tie another knot to form a loop for hanging.

CHENILLE STEM HEART
  1. Bend stem in half to form a V.
  2. Curl ends over and bring together.
  3. Bend or twist ends together to close heart.
  4. Hang tassel(s) or poms from center of heart.
  5. Use needle to run scrubby yarn through the center of pom(s)/tassel.
  6. Tie knot above pom/tassel, then run one end through and over top of heart and tie another knot to form a loop for hanging.

POM WREATH
  1. Cut a portion from memory wire.
  2. Ends of wire circle should overlap a few inches.
  3. Push poms and tassel onto wire, bunching tight together to expose overlapping ends of wire.
  4. Use a small amount hot glue to tack together ends of wire.
  5. Pull poms back over ends of wire.
  6. Add a yarn loop to top for hanging.

FOAM SHEET WREATH
DESIGN 1
  1. Cut several 4 1/2"X 1" strips from foam sheets.
  2. Hot glue one end of foam strip to back of wire loop, fold over strip so that ends meet and cover wire.
  3. Glue ends together.
  4. Repeat until wreath is full.
  5. Glue on poms or chenille stem loop as desired.

DESIGN 2
  1. Cut several 2 1/4"X 1" strips from foam sheets (see pattern).
  2. Snip out a 90 degree angle from ends.
  3. Hot glue strips onto wire loop.
  4. Glue on poms as desired. Add yarn loop for hanging.

TASSELS
  1. Cut 4-6 ft of yarn.
  2. Wrap loosely around four fingers of one hand, leaving 1-2 feet.
  3. Cut off remaining thread. Remove yarn from hand.
  4. Tie remaining yarn around top of tassel yarn.
  5. Wrap ends of remaining yarn around tassel yarn.
  6. Tie off in a double knot. Trim off bottom of tassel.
  7. Hang tassel by running string or wire through all top loops.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Use a craft knife to score dowel before snapping in half.
