SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 100% cotton fabric for mask
  • Velvet ribbon
  • Pattern template (download PDF under "Get Patterns" tab)
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download the pattern by clicking "download PDF" below "Get Patterns" tab.
  2. Cut 2 pattern pieces from fabric.
  3. Match outer mask pieces right sides together and sew the outer curve. Repeat with lining pieces.
  4. Open both mask halves and press both seam allowances to the right.
  5. Topstitch down the center seam allowance, about 1/4" from the seam.
  6. Cut 4 pieces of ribbon 15" long and 2 pieces 4 1/2" long.
  7. Lay one half of the mask down with the right side facing up. Pin ends of 15" ribbon ties in each corner. Once ties are pinned in place, bundle the tie ends together in the center of the mask. Sew ends of ribbon to finish.
  8. Match front and back pieces right sides together, matching center front seams at the top and bottom.
  9. Pin and sew around the exterior of the mask, leaving a small opening at the bottom of the mask between the center front seam and corner to turn mask.
  10. Clip across corners, and clip curves taking care not to cut through the stitching.
  11. Turn mask right side out and press.
  12. Topstitch around the mask 1/4" from the edge, closing the hole at the bottom in the process.
  13. Topstitch remaining ribbon pieces to sides of mask, turning under the ends of the ribbon to finish.
