Kitschy Coo Lacy Kitchen Towel Edging And Dishcloth
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Bernat® Cotton-ish by Vickie Howell (55% Cotton/45% Acrylic; 282 yds): 1 ball Lemon Twill
- Size US G/6 hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Tapestry needle
- Fine tip hole punch
- Measuring tape
- Pen or pencil
- 16"x25-1/2" tea towel
DIRECTIONS:
GAUGE: 16 sc x 18 rows = 4"
Towel Edging
Using measuring tape, pen and fine-tip hole punch, mark and make 32 holes approx 1/2" apart and 1/4" up from towel hem edge.
With tapestry needle and yarn, Blanket Stitch through holes across. (31 sts)
1st Row: Join yarn by pulling loop through top of 1st blanket stitch. Ch 3, sc in next st, *ch 2, sc; rep from * to end. Turn. (30 ch sp, 31 sc)
2nd Row: Ch 3, *dc in ch-2 sp, 3 dc around the post of dc just made (makes 3 dc group), sc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * ending with sc in same ch-2 sp as last 3 dc group. Turn.
3rd Row: Sl st to 3rd dc of dc group, *ch 6, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, sk sc; rep from * to end. Fasten off.
Repeat entire process at opposite end of towel. Weave in ends.
Dishcloth
Body: Ch 37.
1st Row: (Hdc, ch 1, hdc) in 3rd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in next ch; rep from * to last ch, hdc. Turn.
2nd Row: Ch 2 (counts as hdc), (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in each ch-1 sp to last st, hdc. Turn.
(11 hdc, ch 1, hdc clusters & hdc at each end)
Repeat 2nd Row, eighteen times more.
Edging:
Ch 3, *dc in next ch-1 sp, 3 dc around the post of dc just made*; rep from * to * 10 times more, 3 dc around last dc (this will be the corner)**, repeat from * to * (only working in every other hdc post) 9 times, 3 dc around last dc, repeat from * to ** once more.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
