- Size U.S. 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needle 36" long or size needed to obtain gauge

- 6" wide piece of cardboard for large pom poms
- MEASUREMENTS: Approx 48"x 58", excluding fringe
- GAUGE: 15 sts and 30 rows = 4" in garter st
DIRECTIONS:
Notes: - Blanket is worked lengthwise.When working in color block technique, use separate balls of the colors to be used, one for each separate area of color in the design. Start new colors at appropriate points. To change colors, twist the 2 yarns around each other where they meet on WS to avoid a hole.
Blanket is worked in garter st.
With MC, cast on 217 sts. Do not join.
Working back and forth across needle in rows, knit 3 rows, noting 1st row is WS. Place marker at end of last row.
Proceed in pat as follows:
**1st row: (RS). With A, K6. With MC, knit to last 6 sts. With A, K6.
Rep last row (garter st) for 6" form last marker, ending on a WS row and keeping 6 sts in A at each end of row.
Next row: (RS). With A, K30. With MC, K87. With A, K100.
Next row: With A, K100. With MC, K87. With A, K30.
Rep last 2 rows once more. Place marker at end of last row.
Next row: (RS). With A, K6. With MC, knit to last 6 sts. With A, K6.
Rep last row for a further 6" from last marker, ending on a WS row.
Next row: (RS). With A, K100. With MC, K87. With A, K30.
Next row: With A, K30. With MC, K87. With A, K100.

Cast off knitwise (WS).
FINISHING
Small Pom pom: (Make 6). Wind B around 4 fingers 40 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to end of each A-stem. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape.
Large Pom pom: (Make 6). Wind B around 6" piece of cardboard 60 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to end of each A-stem. Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape.
Following diagram, sew pom poms securely to end of each A-stem, alternating shapes.
Fringe: Cut strands of A 16" long. Taking 3 strands together (tog), fold in half and knot into fringe across both ends of Blanket. Trim fringe evenly.
