SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Headband base
- Cotton fabric
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- 1/2" foam
- Hot glue gun & glue
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut a piece of foam the width and length of the headband.
- Hot glue the foam to the top of the headband.
- Trim the foam with scissors to follow the taper of the headband.
- Taper the foam off the ends of the headband to reduce the bulk, start at the tip and work up the ends about 2".
- Cut a piece of fabric about 4" long and wide enough to wrap around the headband in the middle.
- Glue the fabric in the middle of the headband with the seam on the underside of the headband. Fold under the edges when securing them in place so they are finished.
- Cut a piece of fabric 6" longer than the headband and wide enough to wrap around the foam and headband.
- Fold under the edges along the long edge and create a loose knot in the middle.
- Add a dot of glue to the top middle of the headband and place the knot so that the unfinished side of the fabric, coming off in either direction, is wrong side down.
- Wrap the edges of the fabric around the headband in either direction. Fold under the edges and glue in place on the under side of the headband.
- Twist the fabric at the ends and trim off so there's 1/2" tail. Fold up the tail onto the back of the headband and secure in place.
- Wrap the ends with ribbon to finish them off and secure on the back with glue.
JOANN HACKS:
- If there is excess fabric at any point, trim it off when folding under the fabric and securing the bottom. Make sure to leave enough to fold the fabric under & create a finished edge.
