Korean Bojagi Wrapping

Beginner 1-2 Hours
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 1/2yd pieces of silk/ramie/cotton fabric in various colors, 4
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Coordinating thread
  • Iron & ironing board 

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut out 4 equal squares from fabric. The total size should be about 2 1/2 times the size of the gift that will be wrapped.
  2. Sew 2 squares on one side with their right sides together with a ¼" seam allowance. Press down the seams.
  3. Sew the remaining 2 squares on one side with their right sides together. Press down the seams.
  4. With their right sides together, sew the two rectangle pieces together down one side to make the wrapping.
  5. Fold the edge in a little over 1/4" and top stitch around all sides. 
  6. To wrap with the chignon-style knot:
  7. Place the fabric like a diamond in front of you with the wrong side facing up.
  8. Center the gift on top of the diamond.
  9. With two opposite sides, bring them together and knot. Spread out the tails once they are knotted.
  10. With the remaining sides, bring them together and knot.
  11. Pull one tail and roll into a small ball over the center knot.
  12. Pull the remaining tail up to cover the ball and tuck the tail into the ball knot.
