Lace Bridal Clutch

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 9" Invisible zipper
  • 1/3yd lace fabric
  • 1/3yd lining fabric
  • 1/3yd backing fabric (can be same as lining)
  • Thread to match
  • Scissors
  • Pins

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut out all pieces.

  2. All stitching is at 1/2" seam allowance, except where noted.

  3. Layer lace and backing fabric together, right sides up. Stitch around perimeter to use together as if one piece.

  4. Gather from notch to notch along top edge to 10" at 1/2" seam allowance.

  5. Center 9" invisible zipper to opening, spreading gathers evenly across.

  6. Insert invisible zipper. Close remaining open ends along top of clutch, up to the 1" square cut outs. Back tack at ends of zipper for strength. (do not stitch square cut outs yet).

  7. Stitch along bottom curve at 1/4" seam allowance.

  8. Match bottom seam to side seam sewing the straight across the 1" cut outs. Repeat on other side.

  9. Repeat same process with lining fabric, leaving 5" opening along bottom curve to allow for turning right side out.

  10. Turn right side out, slip stitch bottom 5" opening.

JOANN HACKS:

  • You can turn gathers into small tucks or pleats for different look.
  • Add pull to zipper for easier opening and closing.
  • Add hand strap using 8-10" length of ribbon for easy carrying.
