Stop looking: this winder is a winner!
Excellent purchase! My electric winder konked-out and I debated on a replacement. After looking at many models, I decided on this Lacis: it's fabulous! Easy to assemble and comfortably winds yarn quickly.

Love it!
This yarn winder is the neatest gadget! I didn’t have any trouble putting it together - just a few pieces needed screwing in place - even came with the screw driver! Immediately made a few yarn cakes out of some scrap yarn - came out perfect! I waited for a good coupon before purchasing. Totally recommend!

A Month In And Looking Good
I did not feel I should write a review til I had it for a month and I am glad to say it works beautifully. My only problem is though it is easy to assemble the screws under the yarn spool are a tad too long and need to be shorter, I solved this problem by flushing the screws but you can file them down just the same. That being said, I love how it winds into nice sturdy cakes and would definitely recommend this particular winder. I got it fifty percent off so it was a really good deal. I also was able to put 12 ounces of yarn on the spool.

love the yarn ball winderr
I bought this over a month ago. I had a lot of partial skeins of yarn laying around and tangled. After using the winder I have been able to tell what I have and keep it more organized. The cake like balls that come off the winder fit in storage cases so much more neatly.

Love this - worth the extra money
I've been looking for a yarn ball winder and decided to go with a more expensive model. I didn't want to worry about having to break my skeins up so I decided on the Jumbo winder. Easy to put together (they even send you the screw driver you will need). I was winding my first ball in 5 minutes. My yarn stash is so much neater now.

Works great
I've had this for more than a year and I love it. I use the clamp on a piece of plywood and a second clamp to clamp the whole thing to my dining table. I have had no quality problems but I'm careful when using it. By the way, I am a 72 year old male and have been knitting and crocheting most of my life after my dad taught me how to knit.

Works well
I bought this item after seeing it in use recently at a knit and crochet festival in Pittsburgh. It works quite well as long as it is attached to the correct kind of surface. I thought the price was very high but I bought the large size because I had a 50% off coupon. The assembly was kind of easy but I did have to file down some screws as they were hitting the body of the unit. I do think the shipping could be faster when buying online.

Bought this for my wife 1mth ago and it broke on the first day! The "cotter pin" type piece that allows the handle to turn the yarn feeder bent and subsequently broke. The internal mechanisms are made of plastic as well... Didn't get what I payed for. It was working perfectly until this happened. Googled other reviews and this seems to be quite common. Fix this problem Joann.

Ace of Cakes
I had seen the small electric winder and wanted it so badly that my husband bought it for me for my birthday. Well it turned out to be a disaster. It has a design flaw that constantly snags the yarn so in much frustration I went in search of a winder that I ciuld have more control over and could actually wind a large cake as the electric could not do that either. This was where I decided to take a chance and make a purchase. I have been so happy with this purchase. It makes huge cakes out of the caron one pounders. It will also make a small cake out of tgose tiny little scraps. I like to keep my skeins nice and neat if possible but we all know that doesn't always happen and sometimes we get gifted yarn that is just a mess. This is the salvation lol for your stash of disorderly yarn. I love how my pretty little cakes look on the shelves in my craft room. All the variations of color in each lil cubicle. My only complaint is it needs a more solid mount to the table. I hate when it starts to wiggle all over as I am cranking away. Overall I think it is a great purchase. I used a 60% off coupon to get mine. I do love my JoAnns coupons.

Poor pieces for assembly
Purchased this item and paid for faster delivery, which was great. The problem is that the item is poorly made and delivered in pieces that don't fit together. The "swing arm" screw is too small for the hole and it just falls apart. Also, the cone has notches on the bottom to lock into the winder body, except the notches are too big to even fit into the base. I plan on returning the item immediately.

Overall Great Product
I bought this a couple of months ago and had been wanting one for a long time. Overall i LOVE it. It winds quickly and evenly and handles larger balls of yarn. The only issue i have is that the *tail* that hangs down the cone that is to end up the center pull creeps up into the ball when I start winding as it is being pushed by the newly winding yarn. The simple solution i came up with though was to put a little tab of scotch tape on the tail and tape it down untill the winding got going then its easily pulled off.

Produces a nice solid ball
I like the fact that it produces a large tight ball that does not fall apart when I pickup the ball of the machine. I have used other winders that the ball would not hold together when you took it off the machine.

Poor construction and durability
I purchased the Lacis Jumbo Yarn Ball winder a couple of weeks ago. The metal screws didn't fit into the plastic. Poor construction, soft plastic and tiny metal screws. So, after getting it almost together, the final pieces wouldn't stay in place.

Almost perfect
I bought this winder a few months ago and it worked perfectly for a few skeins and then something snapped inside (it now rattles) causing the handle to hit the clamp unless you consciously pull it outwards while you turn. It winds wonderfully and as I'm only doing small batches at the moment it's fine, but I wish the handle didn't hit the clamp.

So glad I finally decided to purchase his ball winder. It's made my life a lot easier. I would recommend this as a purchase for any avid knitter or crocheter . It was very easy to learn to use. After the yarn is wound into a cake the center pull is terrific. No need to worry about knots while crocheting a project I absolutely love it.

This is my third attempt at purchasing a yarn ball winder. My first two were dismal failures. I should have saved my money and purchased this one the first time. This wonder works very close to perfectly. Makes nice little cakes. Use a coupon and this winder is well worth the money.

This works great. I wanted something like this and this one seemed like it would do the job. The negative feedback must have been from people who don't follow directions or aren't careful. Keep a little tension on the yarn and watch what you're doing and you won't have trouble. Quality seems good and easy operation. Sixty percent off made it a really good deal.

Jumbo Yarn Ball Winder
I have only had this winder for two weeks. So far I love it. The yarn feeds so smooth when I'm crocheting. I read other reviews of the winder breaking and am hoping mine doesn't because now I'm spoiled.

Great winder
I do not know how I did without this for so many years. Now that I have it will never let it go. Works wonderfully, easy assembly, easy to follow instructions. Used it to ball up some scrap yarn I was using on 3 different projects. Worked well and center pull did not tangle. Will tak a while to get all yarn done as I have 8'x5' wall of yarn plus dresser full and another cabinet with yarn and threads.

If you work with yarn, you need this!
I purchased a different yarn winder thinking it would suit my needs. It is a smaller version of this and I like it but since I often work with large skeins, I needed something that could handle more than 3 ounces at a time. I got this one using a really good percentage off Joann coupon so the price was well within my budget. Anyhoo, the Jumbo Yarn Ball winder is fantastic! It was relatively easy to assemble and makes beautiful yarn cakes out of my 14oz cotton skeins - fast and easy. I LOVE center pull yarn! It does not bother me one bit that the winder is manual. I actually prefer it, because I didn't want some, big old, loud contraption to wind my yarn. I can't wait to get all of my yarn in uniform cakes so that I can store them more effectively and have center pull, tangle free yarn all of the time!

Nice big winder
Finally a winder that will hold a full skein of acrylic. Assembly was cinch with the included screw driver. It ran smoothly right from the start. I have not added any lubricant although I may try that based on other reviews. I took advantage of a recent 60% off coupon which made it a great deal
