VEST
  1. Fold the black velour fabric in half, with wrong sides facing, and lay it flat. Fold the child's t-shirt in half lengthwise, with sleeves touching. Lay the folded edge of the tee to the folded edge of the fabric.
  2. Trace along the t-shirt neckline and down the shoulder, stopping at the sleeve seam.
  3. Place a mark at the underarm of the t-shirt.
  4. Flip the t-shirt so that the fold faces the opposite side of the fold in the fabric, and line up the underarm of the sleeve to the marked underarm on the fabric.
  5. Trace the line from the top sleeve seam to the neckline, stopping before the neckline. Draw a line straight down from this point to the bottom of the vest.
  6. Draw the sleeve opening by making a narrow U shape from where the line ends at the top, down to the underarm mark, and back up to the end of the top line on the other side.
  7. Determine how short to make the vest by measuring the child from mid shoulder to where the vest should end. Use this measurement to measure from the top shoulder of the draw vest to the hem. Mark the hem.
  8. Cut out this piece.
  9. Open the piece and lay it flat. Trim a slight curve to the front of the vest, but make sure the shoulder edges still align.
  10. At the shoulders, overlap the seams 1/4", and hot glue the front piece over the back.
  11. Hot glue the silver trim around the edge of the vest.

SASH
  1. Cut a piece of the knit fabric 10" wide by 56" long.

BANDANA
  1. Fold the knit fabric with right sides facing. Measure up the folded edge 15" and make a mark. Measure over 18" along the bottom edge and make a mark. Draw a line from the first mark to the second. Cut along this line.

PIRATE HAT
  1. Use the pattern template to cut out the pirate hat pieces from the black and white felts.
  2. Hot glue the skull and bones to the front of the hat.
  3. Cut a piece of black elastic 4" long. Hot glue the elastic to one end of the hat. Wrap the hat around child's head and mark the elastic, where the other end meets. Hot glue the other end of the elastic to the other end of the hat.
