Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent 2 in 1 Ninjago mech The Arin mech has some really awesome designs, with the looks of a dragon, and still giving a lot of mechanical vibes. The mech has the legs of a dragon with the head of one to. The mixed colors of green, black, and yellow, give this mech some really awesome looks. Now moving on to the Lloyd mech. The legs have some really realistic looks with sandals on its feet. Some people may think that makes the feet look terrible, but personally I love that. The sandals make this set unique and worth buying. The arms are a bit skinny, but the fists are huge. Plus, the hands have 4 fingers, which to me, not that many mechs have that, and the shoulder armor makes the arms look a lot stronger, plus the writings on the armor gives this set a really neat design. The head has a hat with 1 eye, which makes the mech look a lot better than it would with 2 eyes. And when the mechs are attached, the whole set just looks so much stronger, the body, the legs, it even gives the mech have 4 arms, and combines their looks. The spear is amazing, and is one of the longest brick build weapons I’ve ever seen. They even put a feather at the end of it. And the mini figures, once you’ve had them for some time, you’ll really start to appreciate the way they look. Over all, the Lego set is excellent, and definitely worth buying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Daddy/Daughter Quality Time We found this set on clearance at a big box store for half off, so at that price, this set was a real steal! There is a smaller mech for Arin that is built in stage 1, then the next 6 stages build Lloyd's larger green samurai mech. The two mechs combine to form one team mech once completed. There are 5 minifigures with the set. In addition to Arin and Lloyd, three are three members of the evil Imperium, Rapton, Imperium Claw General and Imperium Guard Commander. We had a lot of fun building this set together. There are a lot of very interesting parts parts in this build, particularly when it comes to the elements that allow the mech to articulate. My daughter was disappointed with the lack of form the build had taken at the end of bag 3. But things turned around as we proceeded to the next stages. She really liked the use of chains to mimic the tassels symbolic of Japanese warrior armor. She also particularly enjoyed that the way to two mechs connected reflected a naval, intentional or not. This build was also the first time she had applied sticker on her own to a Lego set. Normally, I apply the stickers using the brick tool and this time she took on that roll and did a great job! This was especially daunting as there are several large stickers that go on the shoulder pads, and the larger a sticker is, the more difficult it is to apply correctly. All in all, we really enjoyed building this set. If you have a chance to build it, hopefully you will get to do it with someone you enjoy spending time with as much as I do with her!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s okay… The build itself was a good idea but the actual look isn’t that good, the mix of dark green and yellow doesn’t work in the slightest…

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Meh. Not my favorite build. It kept falling apart as I was building it. The little mech didn't fit properly. Don't buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 9 and 7 years old sons build this together. Younger needed sometimes little help, but both of them loved it. Instruction were good and easy to follow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well-designed mecha set I bought this and Sora's Transforming Bike, with an initial greater enthusiasm for the bike set. However, this set really impressed for the both the build and the unusually high range of articulation in the larger of the two mecha included in the set. The smaller mecha is simple but still fun to play with, but the large green mecha was an absolute treat to build and pose. Moreover, the smaller yellowish-orange mecha can attach to the green mecha's chest, which gave me the impression of a baby carrier (LLoyd, the Green Ninja, is Arin's mentor, so its a funny yet apt analogy). As a passionate mecha fan, the mecha in this set are very much my focus, and I'll opine that LLoyd's mecha is one of the best designs the Ninjago Design Team have given us. The minifig selection is good; you get LLoyd, Arin, Rapton, an Imperium Guard, and an Imperium Claw all of which have front & back torso prints, leg prints, either dual faces or printed details front and back of their heads, as well as a few new weapon/body wear elements. From a conflict POV, the set is very one-sided, as only the protagonists have mecha. However, it's just nice to have those figs, especially if you're an army-builder (I'm not). The mecha, however, are the stars of the show and I can only cheer on the Design Team in the hopes that they'll continue churning out mecha models of this caliber with such great articulation, design, and play features in future sets.
