The build was fairy easy, albeit a little fiddly with sausage fingers! I decided to make my Mustang a Lego replica of the car from the Steve McQueen movie, Bullitt. All it took was replacing the white tiles for earth green and the white brackets for black. I also omitted the front spoiler and didn’t use any of the stickers, including losing the pony from the front grill. Finally I swapped out the pearl gold wheels and black studs for flat silver wheels and studs. With the addition of a Steve McQueen inspired minifigure I think the overall effect is pretty neat! It helped that the original set was so good!
Date published: 2018-03-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paulovey from Smaller set but loved it So I normally go for the bigger sets. I have a Few of the larger technic sets, as well as the star wars super star destroyer, and the new millennium falcon. Having loved this car for years how could I turn down the chance to build it. I really liked The retro look to the driver. The build is solid and I really enjoyed how the build developed. Just one bit I would change. I had a spare printed round brick with the Mustang and have used it on one of the wheels in place of the black ones in the guide, and it looks great. Would have been even better to have one of those on each wheel. Like some of the other builders here I opted to not use all the stickers and make it look more like the Bullet movie car. I also put different tiles on the head lights (25313). I feel that these resemble lights more then the clear tiles. The design is good and it does look a lot like the real car. I also added some black wheel inserts from another kit which look nice. The car is very sturdy when completed. Great little car.
Date published: 2018-04-02

Rated 5 out of 5 by MasterBuilder84 from The Legacy Continues Once again, the pictures don't do this model enough justice; it looks a lot better in-person. Unlike many of the other models in the Speed Champions line, this one has a more-reasonable number of stickers. Luckily, for those of us with bigger fingers, the Mustang logo on the rear fuel cap is printed and not a sticker. Unlike the Mustang GT, the taillights on the '68 are circular translucent bricks, which nicely replicate the real Mustang taillights, especially given the small scale. My only gripe, (and I'll be the first to say this is nit-picky), is I wish there was an easier way to make a "clean" version of this model (sans the 'LEGO' and 'Spark' logos). If both of those are left off, you lose part of the racing stripes and vertical door stripe. All-in-all, another great edition to the Speed Champions line. Ford enthusiasts will love to add this to their collection. LEGO: The Bullet movie turns 50 and you are sooo close to it with this '68. Could we see a Bullet-edition Mustang too? Please? Likewise, might a convertible be in the near-future as well?
Date published: 2018-03-02

Rated 5 out of 5 by ezzzzz53 from This one has real headlights and tail lights! So one of the great features is the amount of detail in this set. it has actual brake lights and head lights (no stickers) and the way the built in the icon shape of the mustang was really well done. it looks as good as it does in the pictures. this set is a must have for any car lover.
Date published: 2018-03-02

Rated 5 out of 5 by BlueSpaceGuy76 from Cruising Back into Lego When I was a kid pretty much everything I played with was Lego. My brother and I had a full city built throughout our bedroom that often changed, but never came down (the to of the dressers was the moon for the space sets). I had been away from Lego for some time, but after getting into Lego Dimensions and loving the feeling of putting together those little micro-kits, I had to get my hands on something bigger. The Speed Champions '66 Mustang Fastback is my first foray back into Lego in quite some time, and I loved it! The predominantly green coloring is reminiscent of the iconic Mustang from the movie "Bullitt" (I've named the minifig Steve), and while it pulls visual cues from various Mustang designs it's easily recognizable as a Mustang. (On a side note, I'd love to find all the green pieces in red and build Wheels with this set from the old Pole Position cartoon.) When it's assembled it feels solid in my hand, this things not going to break apart, and there's nothing loose that feels like it's going to flop around or come off (like the exhaust pipes). (BTW, I said build time was an hour, but truthfully I didn't pay attention to time.) The additional piece of the time trial counter is a nice touch, but I would have preferred something more pit-stop looking. But that's just me. All-in-all I couldn't be more pleased with my first build with Lego in such a long time. I had so much fun putting this together that I immediately wanted to pull it apart and rebuild it. It a great set, a great build, and a great model when fished. It's an excellent start to my new collection, and I think it would make a great addition to anyone's growing collection.
