SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1/4yd 100% cotton fabric
- 20" fabric ties - use 1/4" double fold bias tape or make your own
- Pattern template (download PDF under print description above)
- 1/4yd lace trim
- Basic sewing supplies
DIRECTIONS:
- Download the pattern by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
- Use the following instructions for making both the child-sized and doll-sized mask. For the child sized, use 1/4" seam allowance, for the doll sized 1/8" seam allowance.
- Cut four of the mask pattern out of fabric (cut 2 together, twice).
- Cut two of the rectangle pattern for the strap channel.
- Cut fabric ties to about 20" each.
- To make your own woven fabric ties, cut fabric strips 1"x 20" long. Fold strip in half long ways and press. Fold raw edges in toward center fold and press again. Stitch down the side to close tie and finish one side by folding twice about 1/4" and stitching to secure.
- Prepare strap channel by short edge of each rectangle in 1/4" and top-stitching in place. Fold rectangles in half with raw edges meeting and press.
- Match main mask pieces right sides together, and sew the outer curve using 3/8" seam allowance.
- Open both mask halves and press both seam allowances to the right.
- Top-stitch down the seam allowance, about 1/4" from the center front seam.
- Top-stitch lace trim to the side seams of the outside of the mask. Edge of trim should be along the stitch line.
- Lay one half of the mask down with the right side facing up. Pin raw edges of strap casing to the side seam of the mask, centered within the seam allowance.
- Match front and back pieces right sides together, nesting center front seams.
- Pin and sew around the exterior of the mask, leaving a small opening at the bottom of the mask between the center front seam and corner.
- Clip across corners, taking care not to cut through the stitching.
- Turn mask right side out and press.
- Top-stitch around the mask, closing the hole at the bottom in the process.
- Thread ties through strap channels.

ridiculously small
Even though the 4" measuring line printed correctly, the masks in all three sizes came out too small.

Incomplete instructions.
I have been making masks for three months now but how to attach the ties for the doll mask is clearly missing. Dolls dont have ears but the instructions fail to indicate how to attach them

Child and doll mask patterns
I like this idea a lot, however I found the instructions to be lacking. They seem to be missing a few words, and steps. I had a difficult time trying to make them and ended up throwing away my first 2 efforts. I’m not even certain that the sizing will be correct for the age range. I’m looking forward to trying to figure it out. If I do I’ll post for others.

Very unclear directions
Joanne's.... how are you always doing things half a__? This is your wheelhouse and it's not hard to write simple mask iinstructions - if fact, it's critical it terms of offering a pattern but no video. Even amateurs do so much better than this weak offering.
