- Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. Wooden dowel approx 24" [61 cm] long x ½" [1.5 cm] diameter.
MEASUREMENTS
Approx 20" x 24" [51 x 61 cm], excluding fringe.
GAUGE
14 sc and 15 rows = 4" [10 cm].
Directions
Note: When working from chart and joining new color, work to last 2 loops on hook of last st. Draw new color through 2 loops, then proceed in new color. Carry color not in use across top of previous row and work sts around it to prevent stranding.With A, ch 71. 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 70 sc. 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn. Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 2" [5 cm].Beg working Chart in sc, reading RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right, until 73rd row of Chart is complete. Place marker at end of last row. Chart is shown on page 2.Next row: With D, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep last row until work from marker measures 3" [7.5 cm], ending on a RS row. Next row – Seam row: (RS). Ch 1. Working in front loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Next row: With D, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep last row until work from marker measures 4" [10 cm]. Fasten off , leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING
With long yarn tail, sew fi nal row to rem back loops of Seam row to create casing. Insert dowel in casing to hang. With F, embroider eye and mouth with chain stitch (see chart for placement).
Fringe
Cut strands of A 23" [58.5 cm] long. Taking 2 strands tog, fold in half and knot into fringe along bottom edge of Wall Hanging. Trim fringe evenly.
