Rep 5th to 12th rows 10 times more, then rep 5th to 8th rows once.
Fasten o ff.
Seaming: With RS facing each other, fold Diamond Pattern Section in half aligning short ends with each other. Working through both thicknesses and making sure to match pat, sl st evenly across short ends. Fasten o ff. Turn Diamond Pattern Section RS out.
Join yarn with sl st to 3rd ch of rst ch-5 section above seamed edge (ch-5 from 3rd row). Working over all 5 ch to enclose them (working across seam), 1 sc in ch-5 sp 5 rows below to match repeating Diamond Pattern around. Fasten o ff.
Top Section
Note: Do not join at ends of rnds (unless otherwise stated). Cont working in spiral placing marker on rst st of rnd for easier counting.
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st at seam to work around Top edge of Diamond Pat Section (see diagram).
1st rnd: Ch 1. Work 110 sc evenly around Top edge of Diamond Pat Section working sts around sides of sc sts.
2nd rnd: Skip ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around.
3rd rnd: 2 sc in rst sc. 1 sc in each of 109 sc around. 111 sc.
4th rnd: 1 sc in each of rst 54 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 54 sc around. 112 sc.
5th rnd: 1 sc each each sc around. Join with sl st in rst sc.
Fasten o ff.
Bottom Section:
Note: Do not join at ends of rnds (unless otherwise stated). Cont working in spiral placing marker on rst st of rnd for easier counting.
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st at seam to work around Bottom edge of Diamond Pat Section (see diagram).
1st rnd: Ch 1. Work 98 sc evenly around Bottom edge of Diamond Pat Section working sts around sides of sc sts.
2nd rnd: Skip ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 96 sc. 97 sc.
3rd rnd: 1 sc in each of next 24 sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 46 sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 23 sc. 95 sc.
4th rnd: Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 46 sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 45 sc. Join with sl st to rst sc. 93 sc. Do not Fasten o ff. Cont with Twisted Tabs (see diagram) as follows:
Tabs
1st row: (RS). Ch 1. 1 scbl in each of rst 3 sc. Turn.
2nd to 8th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Turn. - First Tab made.
Fasten o ff.
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st in next st along rnd. Rep 1st to 8th rows to create next Tab. Fasten o ff.
Cont working in this manner, working individual 3-st Tabs around. 31 Tabs.
Twist Tabs and begin working in rnds: 1st rnd: With RS facing, twist rst Tab so WS of top of Tab is facing and Tab has a single twist in it. Join yarn with sl st in rst sc of Tab to work around. Ch 1. 1 scbl in each of next 3 sc. Twist second Tab in same manner as rst, being sure to twist in same direction. 1 scbl in each of 3 sc across second Tab. Cont working in this manner, twisting each Tab and working 1 scbl in each sc around. Join with sl st to rst sc. 93 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 29 sc) 3 times. 90 sc.
3rd rnd: Skip ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to rst sc.
Fasten o ff.
FINISHING
Surface Crochet:
Top of Twisted Tabs: With RS facing, join yarn with sl st at rst rem loop aligned with seam from 1st row of Twisted Tabs. Ch 1. 1 sc in each rem loop around. Join with sl st to rst sc. Fasten o ff.
Bottom of Twisted Tabs: Work as for Top of Twisted Tabs around 1st rnd at bottom of Twisted Tabs.
Top Hdc Ridge: With RS facing, join yarn at seam with sl st around rst hdc of Top Hdc Ridge of Diamond Pat Section (see chart).Ch 1. Sc evenly around, working sts around hdc sts. Join with sl st to rst sc. Fasten o ff.
Bottom Hdc Ridge: Work as for Top Hdc Ridge around Bottom Hdc Ridge of Diamond Pat Section.
Elastic Thread Weaving: (WS). With sewing needle and elastic thread, weave elastic thread through every other st around 2nd row from Top Edge of Cozy, being sure thread is not visible on RS of work. Tie thread tightly so Cozy ts snuggly around pot. Rep on 3rd and 4th rows from Top Edge of Cozy (3 rows of elastic thread weaving in total).
Optional: To keep Cozy from sliding down slippery pot surface, use hot glue gun and glue sticks to apply small dots of glue to WS around Top Edge of Cozy. Let dry.
Fringe: Cut strands of yarn 3½" [9 cm] long. Taking 1 strand, fold in half and knot into fringe in each sc around bottom edge of Cozy. Unply each strand of yarn in fringe.
