DIRECTIONS:
STITCH EXPLANATIONS:
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.
sc3tog (sc 3 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) 3 times, yarn and draw through all 4 loops on hook - 2 sts decreased.

NOTES:
For each Skeleton, Legs are worked first then joined together to beg Body. Body is worked upwards to shoulders then Head is worked directly on to top of Body.
Arms and Cap are worked separately and sewn to Body.
All pieces are worked in continuous rnds (spiral). Do not join last st of rnds to first st and do not turn rnds.
Pieces are stuffed and sewn together then details are embroidered.
One ball each of A and B are sufficient to make both Skeletons.
Exact gauge is not essential for this project. Work tightly so that stuffing does not show through spaces between stitches.

FIRST LEG:
With A, beg at foot, ch 5.
Rnd 1: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, 5 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next 2 ch, 2 sc in last ch; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral) - you will have 13 sc in this Rnd.
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of Rnd. Move marker up as each Rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in each of next 5 sts, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st - 20 sc.
rnds 3 and 4: sc in each st around.
Rnd 5: sc in next 5 sts, (sc2tog) 5 times, sc in next 5 sts - 15 sc.
Rnd 6: sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog, sc in next st, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sts - 13 sc.
Rnd 7: sc in next 5 sts, sc3tog, sc in next 5 sts - 11 sc.
rnds 8-13: sc in each st around.
Stuff Leg firmly.
Fasten off, leaving end of Rnd marker in place.

SECOND LEG:
Make same as First Leg but do not fasten off.

BODY:
Continue with yarn still attached to Second Leg.
Rnd 1: sc in first 4 sts of Second Leg, beg in first st following end of Rnd marker, sc in 11 sts of First Leg, remove end of Rnd marker from First Leg, sc in last 7 sts of Second Leg; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral) - 22 sc.
Rnd 2: sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, * sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 28 sc.
Rnd 3: * sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 32 sc.
rnds 4-8: sc in each st around.
Rnd 9: * Sc2tog, sc in next 14 sts; rep from * around - 30 sc.
Rnd 10: * Sc2tog, sc in next 13 sts; rep from * around - 28 sc.
Rnd 11: sc in each st around.
Rnd 12: * sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 24 sc.
rnds 13 and 14: sc in each st around.
Rnd 15: * sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 20 sc.
Rnd 16: sc in each st around.
Rnd 17: * sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 16 sc.
Stuff Body firmly.
Rnd 18: * sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 12 sc.
Fasten off. Remove beg of Rnd marker.

HEAD:
Draw up a loop of B in center back st of Body.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral) - you will have 24 sc in this Rnd.
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of Rnd. Move marker up as each Rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: * sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 32 sc.
rnds 3-11: sc in each st around.
Rnd 12: *sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 24 sc.
Following package directions, attach safety eyes between rnds 8 and 9 of Head, about 3 sts apart.
Stuff Head firmly.
Rnd 13: * sc in next st, sc2tog; rep from * around - 16 sc.
Rnd 14: (Sc2tog) 8 times - 8 sc.
Fasten off.

ARMS (make 2):
With A, beg at hand, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of Rnd. Move marker up as each Rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - you will have 8 sc in this Rnd.
Rnd 3: * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 12 sc.
Rnd 4: sc in each st around.
Rnd 5: * sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog; rep from * around - 9 sc.
rnds 6-13: sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stuff firmly.
Rep to make second Arm.

CAP:
With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join, work in continuous rnds (spiral).
Place a marker in last st made to indicate end of Rnd. Move marker up as each Rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook - 12 sc.
Rnd 3: * sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 18 sc.
Rnd 4: * sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 24 sc.
Rnd 5: * sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 30 sc.
Rnd 6: * sc in next 14 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 32 sc.
rnds 7-12: sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

FINISHING:
Sew Cap to top of Head.
With B, embroider straight stitch 'bones' on Legs, Arms and Body.
With A, embroider straight stitch nose and mouth on face.
Using attached yarn tails, sew Arms to Body.

HAIR:
Add fringe 'hair' to one skeleton, as follows:
Cut 12 lengths of A and 6 lengths of B, about 6 in. (15 cm) long. For each fringe, fold 1 strand of yarn in half. Insert crochet hook around a st and draw fold through piece, forming a loop. Thread ends of fringe through the loop. Pull to tighten.
Beg at center front, make 9 fringes along one half of front edge of Cap in the following color order: A, B, A, B, A, B, A, A, A. Twist all 9 fringes together and sew to side of head.
Rep on opposite side.
Weave in any remaining ends.
