These are granny squares!
This is the same pattern as on the Lion Brand website. You are making big granny squares and switching colors. There is only one size so that is why I gave it 4 stars. You could possibly make a smaller size/larger size by making the granny squares bigger /smaller. So changing the size would not be easy for crocheters new to crocheting clothing.

Confusion
If you look closely at the sweater, these are not granny squares. Directions call for granny squares. Wrong pattern for photo!

Lion Brand Basic Yarn-Salt Lake Sweater
I actually bought just the basic stitch yarn, not the skein tones. Not crazy about the colors. I've started the sweater in grey, purple and a very soft pink. I do not see a chart for sewing it together. I hope JoAnn's will put it in. I have used this yarn before to make a pocket scarf and it came out nice.
