DIRECTIONS:
STITCH EXPLANATION:yo (yarn over)
An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:
1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
2. Take yarn to back, over the right needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.
NOTES.
Shawl is worked in one piece from back neck downwards.
After the first few rows, 4 rows of Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS) alternate with 6 rows of Garter st (k every st of every row) and Eyelet Rows are worked every 10th then every 20th row.
Yarn over increases are worked to shape the Shawl.
The first st of every row is slipped and the last st is purled. This creates neat edges on the Shawl.
When the pattern tells you to slip a st, slip as if to knit or as if to purl, whichever look you prefer.
A circular needle is used to accommodate the number of sts. Work back and forth in rows on the circular needle as if working on straight needles.
