SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • LION BRAND® GO FOR FAUX THICK & QUICK Yarn
  • #210 Husky (8) 10 balls
  • LION BRAND® Speed Hook size S-35 (19 mm)
  • LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt
  • Smooth yarn for seaming
  • 6 buttons, about 1 in. (2.5 cm) diameter
  • Sewing needle and thread

  • IMPORTANT MATERIALS NOTE:
  • The Bunting closes with buttons. For baby's safety, sew buttons on very securely, using doubled thread and knotting several times. Do not leave baby unattended in the Bunting.

  • SIZE:
  • 0-6 months (6-12 months)
  • Finished Chest About 16 (20) in. (40 (50) cm)
  • Finished Length About 19 (22) in. (48 (56) cm), not including hood
  • Note: The pattern is written for the smaller size with changes for the larger size in parenthesis. When only one number is given it pertains to both sizes. To follow the pattern more easily, circle all the numbers pertaining to your size before starting.

  • GAUGE:
  • 4 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm)
  • BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

DIRECTIONS:

    NOTES:
    Back, 2 Fronts, 2 Sleeves and Hood are worked separately and then seamed to make Bunting.
    Ears are worked separately, then sewn to Hood.
    Smooth yarn is used for seaming.

    BACK:
    Ch 9 (11).
    Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across - you'll have 8 (10) sts.
    Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.

    Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 19 (22) in. (48 (56) cm) from beginning.
    Fasten off.

    FRONTS (make 2):
    Ch 5 (6).
    Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across - you'll have 4 (5) sts.
    Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.

    Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 1 in. (2.5 cm) less than Back.

    Last Row: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each of the next 2 (3) sts, sc2tog - you'll have 3 (4) sts.
    Tie a piece of smooth yarn to end of last row for center front marker.
    Fasten off.

    SLEEVES (make 2):
    Ch 7 (8).
    Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across - you'll have 6 (7) sts.
    Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across.

    Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 4 (5) in. (10 (13) cm) from beginning.

    Next row (Decrease Row): Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each of the next 2 (3) sts, sc2tog, - you'll have 4 (5) sts.

    Repeat row 2 until piece measures about 6 1/2 (7 1/2) in. (16.5 (19) cm) from beginning.
    Fasten off.

    FINISHING:
    Note: Use smooth yarn for all seaming.

    Being sure to have center front markers at center, and using smooth yarn, sew Fronts to Back along shoulders for about 3 1/2 in. (9 cm).

    Fold Sleeve to find center of last row. Match this center to the shoulder seam, then sew Sleeve to side edge of Front and Back.
    Repeat with second Sleeve.

    Sew side and Sleeve seams.
    Beginning at lower edge, sew Fronts together for about 6 in. (15 cm).
    Seam Front to Back across lower edge.

    Hood
    From right side, join yarn with a slip st at right hand corner of neck edge.
    Ch 1, work 10 (11) sc evenly spaced around neck edge.

    Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
    Repeat Row 1 until piece measures about 8 (9) in. (20 (23) cm).
    Fasten off.

    Seam top of hood.

    EARS (make 2):
    Leaving a long beginning yarn tail, ch 2.
    Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
    Pull the beginning tail of yarn to tighten the center of the half circle.
    Fasten off.

    Sew the flat edge of the ear onto the hood.
    Repeat with second ear.

    With sewing needle and thread, securely sew 6 buttons evenly spaced along either right or front center edge.
    There are no buttonholes - use the spaces between stitches as buttonholes.

    Weave in yarn ends.
