NOTES:
Beret is worked in rnds from the ribbed brim upwards.
Crown (top) of beret is worked in fair isle colorwork using 2 colors per row to form sunflower pattern.
Work the colorwork from the written instructions or by following the chart.
To print the chart, click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
If working from chart, read every rnd of chart from right to left.
When working fair isle patterns, carry color not in use across WS of work.
If carrying color across 5 or more sts, twist yarns on WS to prevent overly long strands (floats) on the WS.
sts are decreased to shape crown (top of beret)
A short length of I-cord is worked & sewn into a loop at center top of beret.

Beret:
With smaller circular Needle and A, cast on 68 sts.
Place marker for beg of rnd.
Join by working the first st on left hand Needle with the working yarn from the right-hand Needle & being careful not to twist sts.

Ribbing:
rnds 1-6: * K1, p1; rep from * around.

rnd 7 Increase rnd: * kfb, k1; from from * around - you will have 102 sts in this rnd.
Change to larger circular Needle.
Work in St st worked in rnds (k every st of every rnd) until piece measures about 4" from beg.

Crown: (top of beret)
Set-Up rnd: * K17, place marker (pm); rep from * 4 more times, k17.

NOTES:
You will have a total of 6 markers, including beg of rnd marker.
The markers separate the sts into 6 sets of 17 sts.
Yarn color is changed to form a sunflower petal over each set of sts.
Change to double-pointed needles when sts have been sufficiently decreased.
