DIRECTIONS:
STITCH EXPLANATION:Bobble Yarn over, insert hook in indicated st and pull up a loop, (yarn over, insert hook in same st and pull up a loop) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all 9 loops on hook.
NOTES:
Cowl is made from a rectangle. Ends of rectangle are sewn together to form the Cowl.
First and last row of Cowl are worked with yarn color A. The remainder of Cowl is worked with B. To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.
Strap is worked separately. Strap is wrapped around seam of Cowl and then ends of Strap are sewn together.
COWL:
With A, ch 77.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - you will have 76 sc in this row.
Change to B.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in next st, *ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st; rep from * across - 39 dc and 37 ch-1 sps.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc and ch-1 sp across, working last sc in top of beg ch-3 - 76 sc.
Row 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in next st, Bobble in next st, dc in next st, *(ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st) 3 times, Bobble in next st, dc in next st; rep from * across - 10 Bobbles, 39 dc, and 27 ch-1 sps.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc, Bobble and ch-1 sp across, working last sc in top of beg ch-3 - 76 sc.
Rows 6 and 7: Rep Rows 2 and 3.
Row 8: Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, sk first st, dc in next st, (ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st) 2 times, *Bobble in next st, dc in next st,(ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st) 3 times; rep from * to last 6 sts, Bobble in next st, dc in next st, (ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st) 2 times - 9 Bobbles, 39 dc and 28 ch-1 sps.
Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc in each dc, Bobble and ch-1 sp across, working last sc in top of beg ch-3 - 76 sc.
Row 10: Rep Row 2.
Change to A.
Row 11: With A, rep Row 3.
Fasten off.
STRAP:
With A, ch 20.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (3 skipped ch count as first dc) and in each ch across - 18 dc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st across.
Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Sew ends of rectangle together to make a ring. Wrap Strap around Cowl seam and sew ends of Strap together.
Weave in ends.
