DIRECTIONS:

STITCH EXPLANATIONS:
Knit 1 below (K1B) With yarn in back, insert the right needle from front to back into the "v" of the stitch 1 row below the current row and knit a stitch, allowing the current stitch to fall off of the left needle.
Purl 1 below (P1B) With yarn in front, insert the right needle from back to front under the purl bump 1 row below the current stitch to fall off the left needle.
NOTE:
Hat is worked from the bottom up on circular needles and then finished on double pointed needles for the crown shaping.
Opposite color is stranded behind work on rounds with more than one color. Keep floats very loose to ensure hat can still stretch.
Pattern is written for three sizes: child (adult small, adult large). Up to three adult large hats can be made with one skein of each color if alternating colors.
Bottom Edging
With color A and circular needle, cast on 48 (54, 60). Join in the round, being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beginning of round.
Rounds 1-6 (7, 8): *K 1, P 1, rep from * around.
Body
Change to colors B and C. Round numbers will restart for simplicity. Begin chart, working in stranded stockinette (knitting every round), at bottom right corner, round 1. All rounds are read right to left on the chart.
Work chart through round 13 (14, 15).

FINISHING:
Weave in ends.
POM POM:
With A, use pom pom maker to make pom pom, wrapping yarn approx. 90 times around. Pom pom should weigh approx. 1/2oz to ensure three hats can be made from three alternating colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chart attached. Great pattern. I have made two of these hats for my kids and they love them because of all the color options. I do make adjustments to the pattern because I am a very tight knitter. But the pattern and chart turn out wonderfully and so cute!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looked like a great project however... Completed the ribbing and was about to begin the body and realized there was no chart for the pattern shown!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No chart! I liked the pattern. Although there was not a chart, I made it all one color. Oops! The yarn in the pattern is chunkier than what I used, so I have a child’s hat. I revised the pattern still using the 10 1/2 needles and now have a hat that I can wear. I like the simple decrease to work the top. Simpler than most of my patterns and still looks great. I am now working on a third hat. I did contact Joann about the chart and was told it would be put online. Still haven’t seen it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No chart The pattern looked great. Only when I went to make it, I couldn’t. The chart for the color work is missing.
