M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between needles and placing it onto the left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

PATTERN STITCH:
Rib Pattern (multiple of 4 sts + 2 additional sts)
Row 1 (WS): P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Rib pattern.

NOTES:
Pullover is made in 4 pieces: Front, Back, and 2 Sleeves.
Each piece is worked back and forth in rows from lower edge upwards. Circular needle is used to work neckband.
MAMA is created across Front using intarsia colorwork and following a Chart. Read RS rows of Chart from right to left and WS rows from left to right.
When working intarsia, use a separate ball of B for each letter in MAMA. Wind B into 4 separate balls before beginning. Carry A across WS of work between color changes. When changing color, twist yarns on WS to prevent holes. If carrying color across 5 or more sts, twist yarns on WS to prevent overly long strands (floats) on the WS.
When you see 'work in pattern as established' in the instructions, this means to work the next row of the pattern, lining up sts as in previous rows.
When you see work 'even' in the instructions, this means to continue on in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.
