- #202 Orange 2 (2, 3) balls
- LION BRAND® stitch markers
- LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt needle
- Circular knitting needle size 4 (3.5 mm), 16 in. (40.5 cm) long
- Circular knitting needle size 6 (4 mm), 36 in (91.5 cm) long
- 1 yd. (1 m) 1 in. (2.5 cm) wide elastic
- Sewing needle and thread

- Finished Waist (without elastic) About 19 1/2 (20 1/2, 22) in. (49.5 (52, 56) cm).
- Finished Length About 11 1/2 (13, 14) in. (29 (33, 35.5) cm).
- Note: Pattern is written for smaller size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.
- GAUGE:
- 20 sts + 28 rows = about 4 in. (20 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (knit every st on every rnd) with larger needle.
- BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
DIRECTIONS:
NOTES:Skirt is worked in one piece, in the round on a circular needle beginning at lower edge.
The waistband is folded and sewn to the WS of Skirt to make a casing for the elastic.
SKIRT:
With larger and longer circular needle, cast on 216 (228, 240) sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on the left hand needle with the working yarn from right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
Rnds 1 and 3: Purl.
Rnds 2 and 4: Knit.
Rnd 5: *K1, p11; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 6: Knit.
Rnd 7: *K2, p9, k1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 8: Knit
Rnd 9: *K3, p7, k2; rep from * to end of rnd
Rnd 10: Knit.
Rnd 11: *K4, p5, k3; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 12: Knit.
Rnd 13: *K5, p3, k4; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 14: Knit.
Rnd 15: *K6, p1, k5; rep from * to end of round.
Rnd 16: Knit.
Continue in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures about 8 (9 1/2, 10 1/2) in. (20.5 (24, 26,5) cm) from beginning.
Shape top of Skirt
Rnd 1: *K1, p11; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Rnd 3: *K2, p9, k1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 4: Knit.
Rnd 5: *K3, p7, k2; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 6: Knit.
Rnd 7: *K4, p5, k3; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rnd 8: Knit.
Rnd 9: *K3, p2tog, p3, p2tog, k2; rep from * to end of rnd - you'll have 180 (190. 200) sts.
Rnd 10: Knit.
Rnd 11: *K2, p2tog, p3, p2tog, k1; rep from * to end of rnd - 144 (152, 160) sts.
Rnd 12: Knit.
Rnd 13: *K1, p2tog, p3, p2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 108 (114, 120) sts.
Change to smaller and shorter circular needle as you work the next rnd.
Next Rnd: Knit.
Next Rnd: Purl.
Rep last 2 rnds for 1 1/2 in. (4 cm), end with a purl rnd as the last rnd you work; then continue in St st worked in the rnd until waistband measures 3 in. (7.5 cm).
Bind off loosely.
Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING:
Fold waistband to WS of Skirt and with yarn tail, sew bound-off edge of waistband to first rnd of waistband, leaving an opening for elastic.
Thread elastic through casing and adjust to fit.
With sewing needle and thread, sew ends of elastic together.
With yarn tail, finish sewing casing closed.
Weave in ends.
