Item # 132482640P109
Intermediate 3-5 Hours

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Macrame Cording
  • 2" Metal Ring
  • Planting Pot
  • 4 Bull Nose Clips or 4 Hair Clips
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut 8 strands of the cording 6ft long.
  2. Cut 2 pieces of cording to be 30" in length.
  3. Set them aside.
  4. Place the long cords through the ring & make them centered in length.
  5. Grab the entire bundle & wrap the bundle tightly at the base of the ring using one 30" piece of cording.
  6. Tie the ends tightly to secure the bundle.
  7. Separate the cords into groups of 4 & use the bull nose or hair clips to keep them bundled.
  8. Take the first group of 4 & go down about 12" & make 3 woven square knots using the 2 centered cords taunt in the middle.
  9. Outer cords will cross over the center 2 cords.
  10. To make a square knot, the right outer cord will pass under the center cords & over the left outer cord.
  11. The left outer cord will pass over the center cords & under the right cord.
  12. The cords will return to their original sides: Right (now on the left) under center, over left. Left (now on the right) over center, under right.
  13. Pull cords snug.
  14. After making 3 knots in a row, clip the group together & repeat for the remaining pairs of cords.
  15. Take 2 groups & unclip them.
  16. The right 2 cords from 1 group & the left 2 cords from the other group combine to make a new group of 4.
  17. Repeat with all remaining cords until there are 4 new groups of cords.
  18. Repeating the steps from above, add 3 square knots to each group, 12" lower than the previous set.
  19. Repeat this process of splitting groups, recombining & adding a set of knots 12" lower, until the plant hanger reaches the desired length.
  20. Bundle all cords together and wrap the other 30" piece of cord around them to secure the base.
  21. Tie it off tightly & snip the ends.
  22. Trim cord ends to make a clean, finished end.
