SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 24"x 36"x 2" Canvas
- Acrylic Paint, Light blue
- Acrylic Paint, Dark Royal Blue
- Acrylic Paint, Medium Warm Brown
- Large Ruler
- Pencil
- Medium Flat Paint Brush
- Small Flat Paint brush
- Painter's Tape
- Quick Grip Glue
- Magnets (36 or more)
- Embellishments (patches, stickers etc.)
DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.- Paint the entire canvas with the light blue paint using the medium paint brush.
- Use the wavy line template to trace the pattern onto the canvas with your pencil.
- Using your ruler and pencil, make 3" squares horizontal and vertical across the canvas.
- Paint every other square with the dark blue paint. Painter's tape can be used for crisp line.
- Paint the wavy trim edge with brown paint.
- Once the front is dry, flip the canvas over and hold it up to the light. Use the pencil to mark desired magnet placement. Use the grid as a guide or choose a random placement. Use only half the magnets for the back, retaining the others for the front of the canvas.
- Use quick grip glue to secure the magnets at each mark.
- Use glue to adhere embellishments to the remaining magnets.
JOANN HACKS:
- Spray a layer of clear spray paint over the pencil markings before painting the grid and border to prevent the pencil from smearing from the paint.
