SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Pattern: See and Sew B6157
  • 2 yd. sequin fabric
  • See & Sew B6157 Pattern
  • 1 yd. knit lining
  • 5/8 yd. of Navy fabric
  • 14 to 16 size sewing needle
  • Thread, notions for sewing
  • Sewing Machine

DIRECTIONS:

All seams are 5/8” unless stated.
  1. Adjust pattern: Add desired length to bottom of top for the dress (18” extension pictured). To get the desired opening V at the back by using a ruler measure by starting at the shoulder seam at the neckline, measure a straight line down 12” to the center back.
  2. Cut one bias strip 12” x 2-1/2” for back strap. Cut one bias strip 13” x 2” for the neckline.
  3. Cut the lining out the same as the dress, making it shorter than the dress.
  4. Fold the back strap bias in half lengthwise, right sides together sew 1/4” seam, turn rights side out. Baste the strap to the left neckline at shoulder seam, leaving the right side open.
  5. Sew the dress as pattern instruction; also sew the lining as you would sew the dress, with the exception of the center back. This will be sewn from the shoulder along the V with the sequin fabric and lining together, leaving the front neckline open. Turn dress right side out, sew together front raw edge lining and fabric.
  6. Sew the neckline bias strip right side to the inside of neckline with a 1/4” seam allowance. Turn strip to the right side, turn under 1/4” seam and top stitch to neckline.
  7. Sew Velcro to the wrong side of the right shoulder. Sew the hook Velcro to the back strap.
  8. The hem can be left raw, as the fabric does not fray. Cut a clean edge.
