Makers Guide: Fleece Monogram Blanket

DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 2-1/2 yards of fleece
  • 1/2 yard of flannel
  • Sewing machine
  • Paper backed Wonder Under® fusible web
  • Iron & ironing surface
  • Scissors or rotary cutter & mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Cotton Pearl embroidery floss

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut fleece to the desired size for a twin sized blanket.
  2. Make a monogram letter desired size using a computer printout or a template. Draw or trace the desired letter onto the back of the fusible web (paper side). Be sure to reverse the letter so the orientation is correct.
  3. Iron the fusing onto the back of the flannel and cut out the letter. Remove the paper backing.
  4. Arrange the letter in the desired location on the blanket and iron carefully in place.
  5. Using a zigzag stitch or a blanket stitch, secure the edges of the letter to the blanket.
  6. Optional step: Hem the edges of the blanket to give a guide line for the blanket stitch.
  7. Using a blanket stitch and the embroidery floss, go around the entire quilt.
