Marble Bottom Vase
ITEM # 0578778P32

DESCRIPTION +

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • White spray paint
  • Glass vase
  • Large bowl (will get ruined with nail polish)
  • Water
  • Paper towels
  • Nail polish or acrylic paint (various colors)
  • Newspaper to protect work surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Spray paint the outside of the vase white, spraying in light coats and using as many coats as needed to reach an opaque finish.

  2. Diagram 1
  3. Lay out newspaper to protect work surface from splatters. Fill large bowl with water and place in the middle of the paper.
  4. Nail Polish Technique: Shake the nail polish over the water to create streaks in the water. (If the nail polish stays in the same spot for too long the polish will sink). Less is more with this technique. Too much polish creates a clumpy mess.

  5. Diagram 2
  6. Paint Technique: Add drops of paint to the water to add a swirl affect. The water will become colored from the paint unlike the nail polish technique where it sits on the surface. This technique will give a more pastel subtle coloring with more of a tie dye look and less of a splatter look.

  7. Diagram 3
  8. Once the polish or paint is in the water dip the vase into the water, push down as far into the water as you want the design to be on the vase. Make sure to keep the vase straight then pull straight up and out.

  9. Diagram 4
  10. Set the vase aside to dry.
