SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 6" embroidery hoop & frame
- 1 piece of fabric - 14" h x 22" w (for outside of hamper)
- 1 piece of fabric - 14" h x 22" w (for lining of hamper)
- 1 piece of 2" thick twill tape - approx. 10" long
- Iron & ironing board
- Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
- Take your outer hamper fabric, fold in half lengthwise, and sew a 1/2" seam along the side.
- Press your seam open, then sew another 1/2" seam along the bottom of your bag.
- Trim the corners of your bottom seam.
- Open your bag and pinch the bottom corners together.
- Sew a seam across the corner to make a boxed bottom. Sew approx. a 3" from the corner to create a substantial base to the bag.
- Cut the corners off below your seam and turn the bag right side out.
- Now grab your lining hamper fabric and repeat steps 1-6 (but do NOT turn it right side out at the end)
- Insert your lining into the outer bag and turn a 1/2" hem towards the outside of the bag.
- Sitch in place.
- Fold the top down toward the outside approx. 2". Insert the inner ring of your embroidery hoop under the folded edge. Place the outer ring of the hoop on the outside of the bag, directly over the inner hoop and tighten.
- Grab your 10" strip of twill tape and loop through the opening in the hardware of the embroidery hoop.
- Sew the edges of the tape together with an approx. 1/4" seam.
- Flip the tape around so the raw edges are hidden and pull the loop until it's hidden even more underneath the hardware.
HACKS
- For extra stability you can layer a piece of fusible interfacing to create a sturdier bag.
- Measure to make sure that the 10" of twill tape will be enough for your gear stick.

Good idea
I think the instructions could be better written and spelling should be checked! I found the thick twill tape was a problem and 1 inch would work better

Useless and poorly written
First off, this is useless- you now have another item that needs laundering with the masks. Secondly, this is marked beginner but doesn’t explain in beginner language. Boxed bottom? So now you’ll need to Google terminology. Save yourself the hassle, use a small lingerie mesh bag to put in your car. Now all you need to do is zip it up and toss it in the wash!

Needs help!
Wonderful idea and design, except the instructions are terrible. What do you mean by #5? What is a 3" from the corner? Hamper is very long! How will it hang and fit from the gear or somewhere else? I would recommend if the directions were clearer.

Easy, quick, useful!
Made this for my mom. Although (like others have said) this project’s instructions were not entirely clear, I figured out what would work. I finished the upper edges, which I highly recommend especially since the hamper should be washed frequently. I used a heart shaped embroidery hoop for some extra fun. Overall a quick project but the pattern/instructions could use some help.

Needs visual images
The directions would be much easier to follow if they have visual representations of each step or several steps.

Great Idea but Directions are Terrible
The picture and YouTube for ideas on what they are trying to tell you to do is it. JoAnn's should have updated the instructions after all the negative reviews on the instructions they have received. This is written as if someone was making personal notes rather than giving someone else instructions or documentation.

Good concept BUT
I like this concept, BUT the instructions are not well written. I have been trying to modify the measurements as they are not correct. I had to look up on UTube how to do the corners. This is NOT a beginner project, at least as written. I hope whoever wrote the instructions has more to their job description than this. ;)

Help!
I am trying to make this but don't understand these instructions:
"Open your bag and pinch the bottom corners together.
Sew a seam across the corner to make a boxed bottom. Sew approx. a 3" from the corner to create a substantial base to the bag."
What does that mean???
