SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
JOANN HACKS:
- Download adult face mask pattern
- Use scraps of sequins from purse or need 7" for each side of mask
- 7" of cotton fabric for each side
- 7" of satin fabric for each side
- 14" of 1/4" elastic
- Loop turner
- Sewing notions
- Download adult mask pattern.
- Cut 2 of sequin, satin and cotton masks.
- Cut 2 of 7" elastic
- Cut 2 bias satin strips. 1 1/4" wide x 12" for each elastic.
- Sew center front seams with sequin and satin together treated as one. Press seams open. Do not topstitch seams. Sew cotton center front seams.
- Sew bias strips right side together with the 1/4" seam allowance, turn with loop turner. Pull elastic through with the loop turner and tack so that satin is gathered. Tack covered elastic to top side and bottom sides of mask.
- Pin right sides together across top sides and bottom, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right sides out, press and hand stitch opening closed.
JOANN HACKS:
- Stitching sequins and satin together first treating them as one makes the center front seam firm.
- Pull threads first before starting so fabric doesn’t get caught in the needle plate.
- Using a size #14 needle for sequin and satin to keep from making snags or skip stitches.
