SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- 1 Bottle of purple liquid Rit Dye
- Medium paintbrush
- 1 Pair of white canvas tennis shoes
- 1 Roll of iron-on metallic adhesive
- Cricut machine
- Iron or small quilting iron
- Plastic gloves
- Old towel
DIRECTIONS:
- Wet the white canvas tennis shoes under running water.
- Stay by the sink to apply the dye.
- Shake well and open the bottle of colored dye.
- With your medium paintbrush apply the dye to the shade of purple you desire.
- If the dye is too deep, then rinse the shoe under running water until you have the shoe one shade darker than you want the final color to be. It will dry lighter.
- Blot off the water and dye with an old towel.
- Let the shoes completely dry.
- On your Cricut machine, cut out scales on the metallic iron-on.
- Save the negative area of the cut outs and also the scales.
- Apply the iron-on scales and negative areas with your iron or you can use the small quilting iron to apply the iron-on vinyl.
JOANN HACKS:
- As you apply the iron-on, try to keep the scales in a pattern similar to fish scales.
