Mini Citrus Drawstring Pouch

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• 1/2yd orange cotton fabric for outer pouch/lining
• 1/2yd green cotton fabric for leaves/drawstring
• 1/2yd fusible Interfacing
• Basic Sewing Supplies
• Template for circle, leaves & band

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut two 7" circles from orange fabric and two from lining.
2. Cut 1" off of one side of the circle for top edge.
3. Cut two 5 1/2"x 2" strips for the bands and two of each of the leaves.
4. Cut two 29” of green fabric to create bias strips for drawstring.
5. Cut two circles from fusible interfacing and adhere to wrong side of orange fabric.
6. On the short ends of the bands press under 1/4" and stitch in place.
7. Press bands in half wrong sides together.
8. To attach the band to the top flat edge of the circle, center the raw edge of the band on the right side of the main fabric and secure to the top edge of the circle.
9. Sew in a 1/4" inseam. Place lining circle on top of orange fabric and band with right sides together.
10. Sew in 3/8” seam. Repeat for other circle.
11. Open out and press open.
12. Place both joined circle pieces right sides together matching up seams and sew together leaving a small opening in the lining section to turn right side out.
13. Sew the lining part in a 3/8" seam and 1/4" on the main pivoting at the seam.
14. Trim with pinking shears or clip in the seam allowance and turn right side out.
15. Sew opening closed.
16. Cut 1" strips of green fabric to create bias strips and form into double fold bias tape.
17. Sew closed to form the drawstring.
18. Feed the drawstring through the casing on both sides so you come out where you started and tie in a knot.
19. For the second, start on the opposite side and repeat.
20. Cut leaves out and sew right sides together. Turn and press turning under 1/8” under on raw edge, adding top stitching to create veining.
21. Attach leaves to side of pouch with leaves facing down.
