Sculpey air dry

I really like that it air dries and doesn't need to be baked. I have been making little crafts and jewelries. Fun to make things and paint them myself or wit the kids.

My kids enjoyed being able to mold and use there creativity and imagination and build something unique . It was super fun. It did get on our hands so be sure to have a wet napkin or cloth to clean your hands

Great idea in theory…
This clay is SO hard to work with. I wanted to make a small dish with it to display at my apartment. I had heard wonderful reviews about it, so I thought I would give it a shot! I opened the packaging and began to mess around with the clay to soften it. Immediately after doing so, the clay began to harden. I put the unused clay in a container - luckily, as the directions said, it stayed moldable. I continued to work with the clay and mold it; it hardened so quickly and began cracking faster than I could imagine. The first time I tried this clay, I ended up wetting it with a bit of water to try and fix the cracking. It took a week for the project to dry and it ended up breaking as soon as I picked it up. The second time, I placed no water on it at all to give it a fair shot. As the project dried, it cracked terribly. Took forever to dry, and my project wasn’t even thick. I tried to give it two shots, and unfortunately, this clay just didn’t work out for me:( I’m disappointed with this product and definitely wasted my money, but I know sculpey has better products for those who have kilns and pottery wheels because I’ve used it before! If you’re looking for a clay, try one of their other products.

Doesn’t harden 100%
I left this to dry for 36 hours (recommended time is 24 hours) and the items that I made are still flexible… If this is intentional, it should be made clear because this is advertised as final product being like ceramic, which is NOT flexible. I’m very disappointed because now I will have to find a different kind of clay to use for my project.

Perfect for jewlery!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my cousin's birthday party so we could all make jewelry and the quality is amazing! It bakes for only 10 minutes and makes really cute earrings and beads. I definitely recommend this!

Air Dry for Christmas Crafts with Kids

Find a different air dry clay.
This stuff is absolutely terrible. It will not stick to itself, it will not stick to other objects, and the recommended drying time isn't long enough. I waited days and it still isn't dry.

Maneuverability is five stars

Just okay
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This clay was cool to have for a rainy day for the kids to be able to have something productive to do with an adult with them. It molds easily however dries too fast to the fact that the kids get frustrated when trying to scult whatever they are making.

Cool idea!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This clay is fun to work with! Easy to knead and roll; cracks, seams, and bubbles are worked out easily. I like the smooth consistency of it. As it dries, it does not crack or pit. The only thing I have found is that my projects take more like three days to dry- but that could be the thickness I have made my projects. After dry, it’s easy to paint using standard acrylic craft paint.

Starts to Dry Instantly
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My niece and I love anything art related and were super excited to start working with clay recently. What I loved about this clay is that it dries with the air so you don't need to use an oven or kiln. It's a large 2.2 lb block of clay so you get plenty of clay to make basically any size project. Once you are done with your creation you just let it sit to dry and harden and then when done it can be colored with markers or paint. This clay was fun to use but the air dry wasn't actually great as it started drying almost instantly making it hard to work with. When we opened the package the clay was very soft but almost instantly started to stiffen up leaving the clay full of cracks that were very hard to smooth out. We ended up getting a cup of water and some paint brushes so we could keep giving it some moisture to help smooth it out and it definitely worked but made it a lot harder and more time consuming. Overall it isn't bad and still fun but I think we will be getting some clay that gets baked in the oven and trying that in hopes that it is easier to work with. If you don't have access to an oven or kiln though then this would be a great choice.

Awesome clay
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best clay I have ever used! I have had experience with oven backed polymer clay and never seemed to have success with it. This clay is very easy to sculpt, mold, smooth, add texture, etc! It also takes acrylic paint really well and a coat of matte or glossy varnish over it gives your creation a beautiful finished look. Great for making gifts, doll accessories and so much more! Just let it air dry and it’s so simple to use!

Fun product!

Dried completely in 48 hours. Easy to paint with water based acrylics, the clay soaks up the color and the pigment is bright.

It dried without cracking or crumbling and I got it pretty smoothed out without too much trouble. After it is dry, it can be sanded, drilled, carved and painted with water-based acrylic paints.

Creative fun!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first time working with air dry clay and I really enjoyed it! My 5 year old and I opened the package with nothing in mind to make, we just started letting our imaginations go to work. We started with small pieces and ended up making "donuts". My daughter was able to roll and sculp hers without any assistance. After we made our first project she made a few more small trinkets and really enjoyed making them! I love seeing her get so excited about something new and getting creative on her own. We read some tips about adding a little water to our fingers to prevent cracking in the clay and that helped quite a bit. The hardest part for us was waiting for it to dry so we could paint/color them! (It took a day or 2) We had just as much fun painting/decorating them and we are looking forward to giving these lovely homemade crafts away as gifts. The leftover clay stores very well in a ziplock bag for future use. This is a great activity for kids (3+) and adults of any age. I would highly recommend!

Best clay ever!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like sculpting with clay and Sculpey is the best for that. This Sculpey Air-dry clay is great. It is pliable and stay soft while you are using it. It lets me be as creative as I want and then all I have to do is let it sit out in the open and air dry. It does take a couple of days or so to completely dry. I will be getting many more colors of the Sculpey clay. I really like that this is the larger 2.2 lb bar as well as it really lasts a long time.

Works great and love that it dries without a kiln
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great clay to do sculpting and crafts with and you don't need to fire it in a kiln. The directions were pretty minimal on the packaging, but I remembered from ceramics in college the basics. So, to make molding a little easier you can add water as you work with it to fingers and the clay. Otherwise it dries up and cracks very quickly while you're still molding. The white is a pure white and that's awesome as a background color for when your pieces are dry and ready for painting. It's a great product. Definitely recommend. My son and I had a lot of fun making things. Wish the bag had a seal, but it was easy enough to roll down the unused portion and close with a chip clip.

Fun craft!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter loved creating things with this air dry clay. At first it was a little tough to work with but after I kneaded the clay for a while it got much easier. The package has a ton of clay in it. I found it was easiest to break it into sections and knead each section on its own. We had a bit of an issue with it trying to dry out too quickly when we started, but I kneaded a tiny amount of water in it and it stayed moldable for longer. The texture is nice and smooth. It is heavy enough to hold its shape well. My daughter and I pressed it into flat round pieces and pushed dinosaur skeleton toys we had into it to create our own fossils. We left them to dry overnight and they set up really nicely. All of the little details stayed intact and it looks just like it did when we molded it. This was such a fun craft for my dinosaur loving 6 year old.
