SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/2 yd each of 10 neutral cotton prints
  • 1/8 yd each of 5 solid cottons
  • 3 yd fabric for backing
  • 1/2 yd fabric for binding (or you can use scraps from your neutrals for a scrappy binding)
  • Twin size batting
  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron and pressing surface
  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:

    50"x 70" Quilt
  1. Use an accurate 1/4" seam throughout. Read all instructions before cutting.
  2. From solids cut seven 3 1/2" squares from each of the 5 colors for 35 total squares.
  3. Cut some 2 1/4" strips from each of the neutrals. From them, cut a mix in the following sizes:
  4. 35 - 2 1/4"x 3 1/2"
    70 - 2 1/4"x 5 1/4"
    70 - 2 1/4"x 7 1/4"
    70 - 2 1/4" x 9"

    35 - 2 1/4" x10 3/4"

  5. To print the templates, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  6. Follow Diagram A sewing strips around 3 1/2" square in order shown. You will have 35 blocks when finished and they should measure approximately 10 1/2" square. Press and trim.
  7. Use Diagram B for block placement and sew into rows.
  8. Stitch the 7 rows together to complete the quilt top.
  9. Sandwich the quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt by stitching in the ditch or as desired.
  10. Trim and bind the quilt.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Press seams to one side and trim as you sew.
