SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Pressed glass & metal float picture frame
- Kraft paper, or paper large enough for traced glass frame shape
- Pencil
- Straightedge
- Black puffy paint
- X-Acto® Knife
- Mod Podge
- Small sealed containers for mixing (baby food jars or cups covered with plastic wrap)
- Food coloring
- Application brush
DIRECTIONS:
- Trace picture frame outline onto paper, create your design.
- Place picture frame back over top of your design, and transfer design lines onto surface of the glass frame with puffy paint; allow to dry.
- Once dry, clean up edges of the puffy paint lines by trimming with straightedge and X-Acto knife. Run the blade across both sides of each line, then use the tip of the X-Acto blade to nudge off the trimmed paint. It should come off easily.
- Pour Mod Podge into small containers, and mix colors with food coloring.
- Apply tinted Mod Podge to glass surface. Continue to apply layers of tinted Mod Podge until the color is at your preferred level of saturation. Cover tinted Mod Podge containers while the piece dries, in case you decide to apply additional layers later.
JOANN HACKS:
- Apply tinted Mod Podge to the surface of the frame, in between puffy paint lines. Applying tinted Mod Podge to the inside of the glass frame can be difficult. If you tape the lines, the tape will pull off the dried Mod Podge.
