  • 2yd Black Cotton Fabric
  • 1/2yd White Cotton Fabric
  • 1/2yd Orange Cotton Fabric
  • 1 pkg Poly-fil
  • 2yds Fusible Fleece
  • Heat & Bond
  • Thread
  • Basic Sewing Supplies

DIRECTIONS:
To find the downloadable patterns click on the "GET PATTERNS" tab above.
 
  1. Cut 2 patterns from black fabric and fusible fleece, adding 1" around for seam.
  2. Fuse fleece to back of black fabric.
  3. Cut one 1.5" x 10" piece from black fabric for antenna.
  4. Fold antenna in half lengthwise, press. Keep folding until you have a piece that is approximately 1/4" wide.
  5. Using straight stitch or zigzag, sew the length of the strip a few times to stiffen the antenna.
  6. Cut in half. Set aside.
  7. Fuse the heat and bond to back of orange and white fabric.
  8. Trace the markings from the pattern to the orange and white fabric and cut out pieces.
  9. Mark front of butterfly for placement following the pattern.
  10. Applique the butterfly markings to front following pattern placement.
  11. Add the additional stitching to the center body of butterfly.
  12. Pin the two antennas to top of butterfly.
  13. With RST, pin back to front and sew around leaving an opening for turning.
  14. Turn and stuff.
  15. Stitch opening closed.
